Yeah don't change the date on my behalf. I'll figure something else out or maybe we can reconvene at a later date.

I'll go on the 9th and the 15th. Its grouse season, so I'm up there with my dog like 3 times a week anyway.

Noon on Sunday, October 9th. Meeting at the Safeway in Bellingham.

Does GSP runner stand for "German shorthaired pointer". That's the kind of hunting dog I have.

I'm sure we could allow a 4Runner, you might have to buy the beer though. You hunt with your dogs? Here's a pic of mine.

I can deal with being the beer supply. I have 2 males and a female. I hunt the female I've had her since she was a pup, the males are rescues who don't seem to interested. She's 6 now, it's been a couple years since I've taken her though due to a nagging shoulder injury she's had. She's good now so I'm looking forward to getting her back out there. Here she is while we were out Chukar hunting.

My 4WD is inop on my rig right now, so I'm going to try and figure it out between now and then, although it sounds like 4WD might not be required.

I was just kidding, you dont have to buy the beer.

You don't necessarily need 4 wheel drive. The last part of the road is pretty steep, so I really like to use 4 Low when coming down to avoid riding the brakes. The road is 6 miles long, and at the 4 mile mark is a large trailhead parking for Tomyhoi Lake. It's a safe place to park if you wanted to jump in my rig for the last part. You could even bring your dog if you wanted as my back seat is for the dogs. And your shotgun if you want there is Blue Grouse up there.

Yeah I'll bring a gun in case, was kinda thinking of doing that Sunday anyway. If I can't bring my old 4Runner I could just bring my 2014, I just don't like the way it rides off road but 6 miles isn't much to deal with.

I'm really gonna try to be there this Sunday. I'll give a for sure answer tomorrow.

Also note, rolling 6 rigs long on the switchbacks is gonna be real fun when we cross someone coming down the trail! :burnrubber:

    No go this Sunday. :(
I'd love to head up there the 15th, rain or shine! I'd love a chance to
Shoot some birds. Any permits required?

Do you like camping? I'm down to make a night of it. Brewskies and a fire!

Small game licence is all you need for grouse. I love to camp. We'll have to watch the snow levels as it gets closer to the 15th. It's down to 6,000 feet as of last night, Twin Lakes is about 5100. Traversing down the steep switchbacks with snow on them would be a no go. We could always find a place to camp a little lower in elevation. I know a few spots.

Yeah sounds good man. Where do I get a small game license around here? Can I get it online?

I've been trying to find a road to get down to the river. Found a few unmarked camp spots within walking distance to the Nooksack, but I wanted to drive down on the rocks next to it. Can't find a way to get all the way down there.
