I haven't even seen it yet. LOL

A friend is the GM of an auto body shop. The rig belongs to a customer and it is being totaled by insurance. All the damage is bolt-on parts (fenders, grill, headlights, front bumper), but because Lexus things like the front bumper, grill, and headlights pushed the price past the total line. So it sounds like I need to source some used fenders, headlights, and an ARB front bumper. :D

So far, all I know is the owner is thinking about buying it back from insurance and selling it to me for whatever buyback is. It's white with tan cladding, 109k miles, totally stock, and in really good condition. Only "bad" thing is it doesn't have lockers.

If the deal does come to fruition, I *may* sell the Tacoma and just dump a bunch of money into this.

Some sort of heater hose mod that TorFab in Mukilteo can elaborate more upon.

Eh, it's alright man. Woulda been fun, but there are plenty other rigs out there.

Why not get a Discovery? I hear they make great daily driver builds...

You would probably be more happy by giving out $150/person at the next Tahuya event and you would even come out ahead financially...

Oh I don't doubt that at all. *sigh* I'm too much of a function and practicality person to ever play that "what if" game. I've had several friends that love LR's, and wheeled with them before. They are nice, capable rigs.

When they work. Not even counting any mods, they have more money in keeping those things just running/moving than I have in my entire truck, including purchase price.

Honestly, I'm not really looking for another rig and hadn't really even entertained the thought. This one just happened to pop up and it got the gears turning in my head since it was going to be a "too good to pass up" kind of deal.

On the other site that vehemently complained about "a bunch of Tacoma drivers let their dog $hit in the meadow while driving on that meadow at Gallegher Head Lake" last year, there is a DII f/s with a Merc 300 TDI retrofitted. Interesting but no thanks.

So here's a pic of the CV I pulled from the truck:

The arrows are pointing at a 'dimple' in each boot. I don't know shit about CVs. Does the 'dimple' indicate a mechanical failure or is it just some kind of boot issue that doesn't affect the functioning of the CV axle?
