I guess I took your "between Dallas and Albany" too literally. To me, neither of those places apply =p.

The area east of Siletz would likely be better, and less packed. Accessing the area from the valley isn't a simple feat so you'll have mostly coastal folks out there.

If you can get far enough inland to where there are clear cuts you could surely find a good sized landing to set up camp, and actually have a view. Otherwise the trees are realllly dense.

Might go camping at Teanaway next thurs-sun if the weather is nice. Anyone up for a van epps of Gallagher head run? The fire lookout at Teanaway ridge has gepreat views too, not really 4 wheeling but short side trip.
Also, it's about 2 miles from Lincoln if u want gnarly dent your truck wheeling.
    Just a feeler.

There is absolutely no way you'll make it to Gallagher.

Here's where we hit snow on Satuday...
    Lat: 47.46828
    Lon: -121.04473
    Elevation: 3153 ft

Miles away, and about 2000 feet lower.

Oh yeah forgot about the snow! Well may be French cabin creek over by lake cle elum or sumpin. I'll give a snow report if I go.
Having just come back from St Martin, snow is the farthest thing from my mind, especially with the nice weather we're having.

Reduced the price on my RCI rack. Still want to sell asap without taking a hit in the shorts. $600 w/ new axe and 3 sets of quick fists. Any takers?

It's a little ghetto for the first attempt, but I made an acrylic bracket to mount my Switch Pro and a Blue Sea Systems dual bus. All the wiring has been re-terminated with Weather Pack connectors. I'm thinking I should add a breaker between the battery and bus. Any other ideas and suggestions?

The original idea was to laser cut it with holes for wire routing as well.
The next one, If I ever feel like making it, will include mounting points for relays.

Then jammed down the 7 to packwood and Rimrock lake. Ran into 1 20ft drift, about 2ft deep just before the top of bethel Ridge It was me and my 6yr old . So I didnt press my luck at 430pm. Got a whole day of wheeling in though all over around the lake. Rimrock should be bare in a few weeks.

Also went up i90 past the summit to reach Lost lake, we hit thick snow 3 miles from the lake. Once again solo so we turned around. Lots of good wheeling avalible.

Van epps is snowed in bad, talked to my bro today that lives In Cle Elum.

Going out by Hamma Hamma to do camping fishing and off roading Friday morning until Monday. Went by the Fs and got a bunch of good maps, with double track to run. The high country has all the gates open finally.

Wow, you've got some great posts so far! I'll be heading through Hamma Hamma Saturday on my way to Sequim. I've got wife, kid and another family with me so might be logistically tough to meet up. Tides are damn low this weekend so we plan to do some shell-fishing as we pass through. I've got a 7yo as well. Nice work on your truck bed

    Workin' on it....
Technical question for the more experienced here.

If I want to jack up the front of the truck, would you:

A: Jack up the front properly by dropping your 75lb 1/4" steel skid and jack off the thing that looks like a tit on the front crossmember like you are supposed to

    or

B: Because you're kinda lazy and would rather skip a step, just jack up the front of the truck by the 1/4" skid because let's face it, if your skid is banging something on the trail you have a goodly proportion of the vehicle weight on the skid anyway and the skid is supported/attached in 3 different areas to distribute the weight even more.

Yeah since I've put my skid on, I just center the jack on it and lift her up. Apparently someone else thought my oil pan was that tit hanging down and used it as a jack point. :annoyed: I know it wasn't me.

Skid won't come off unless I've got steering rack or front diff issues. You can do most other work with it on.
