    Touché

I was continuously impressed by your stash(es) of top-shelf liquor and tasty micro-brews. You sir, are definitely a connoisseur...

...and yes, Mike is the safe-keeper of the White Dog :D

I'm about to lose my mind with Google+. Two days ago I could link pics in my album. Now it won't let me copy their location. WTF. :frusty:

As long as you don't mind doing some minor damage to your truck, the wheeling is awesome. I did liberty as my first trip ever about 2 months ago. I got new pin striping all over my truck, bent the front lip of my gas tank skid, smashed the trailer wiring plug, and chewed up my factory tires that are designed for streets, not so much of off road. The scratches all appeared to be just in the clearcoat, so easy enough to buff out if I care. Everybody also said that you need 3" of lift to hit liberty and I did it stock.

What I started to learn in this is to also bring all the recovery gear you have, not just some of it, and also bring some hand tools to work on anything that may break or come loose while out there. Most importantly of all, bring something good to drink, like quality beer or hard liquor. Alcohol helps give you courage to get through areas that a sober mind knows you shouldn't try.:D

^^^LOL. Don't get the poor guy scared.

While Zach did get some dingers and pinstriping at our Liberty trip, it was amazing he made it through with a stock truck (NOT a TRD) and zero armor. Yes, spending the day going through rocky terrain does wear down tires - some chunk more than others.

It's tough to say you will avoid pinstriping. We don't get the hard striping like the desert guys will get going through dry vegetation but trails can be tight. They do usually buff out.

Zach is correct about bringing recovery gear. Half the fun of wheeling is overcoming technical challenges but stuff can break. I use my recovery gear to help others more than I have ever used it on myself.

Lastly you are always welcome to ride along for a trip and get the feel. You will most likely be fine joining for more 'exploration' type forest road trips instead of dedicated OHV roads.

On second thought, Mark. Your truck looks great. I hope we do get to see it on the trails with us sometime!

You paint a pretty harrowing picture.
While damage is always a risk, you can lessen it and avoid it through driving style and what you want to try. I didn't get anything 'serious' until recently, and even then it's pretty minor (chipped rear light, bedside scrape). I could have prevented it by taking a few extra minutes of planning instead of trying to force my way.
I do have a dent on the bottom of the bedside behind my rear tire, but I'm thinking that might be a parking lot situation.
You never have to drive first time out - you can always do passenger and test the water.

x2. Incredibly good advice that is too often times overlooked.

I'm assuming you are drinking all of this after the run. You can still get a DUI on the trail, and moreso, there's a lot of safety issues involved with offroading - especially during recovery scenarios. Also, our sport has a lot of opponents out there, and we need to show people that we can enjoy the outdoors safely with limited impact.
