If you dont want to buy one for him Ive got a couple laying around he could borrow. Think I have a vortex 2.5-10, nikon 3-9, leupold 2-8 ("shotgun" scope i think), and a 1-6 that i think is a primary arms (its on the AR in dads safe that i havent used in years)

Ive never lapped rings and never had an issue. :notsure: I do torque them though

I have an older Leupold VX2 2-7x I would be willing to part with. It's mounted to a Remington 7600 carbine right now(30.06), which I would also be willing to part with. Great rifle for the woods.

I didn't know what lapping was until I got this kit. Didn't have any issues before but I think it's probably a good idea. Most of the time when the rings are far out of alignment you take one ring and flip it around and it's much closer.

I'll PM you some pictures when I get home this afternoon. If nothing else, you can borrow it for the season.

My dad and brother-in-law were out chasing deer all week and didn't have much luck. LOTS of deer, lots of bucks, but nothing really worth shooting. My brother-in-law took a spike before heading home empty handed last Friday and my dad and I spent the weekend setting up for elk season here in a couple weeks.

    Here's the bull we're chasing...
    DSC_0137.jpg

Pretty young 6 point running a small herd of 11 cows... Kinda eerie, as typically there are 2 or 3 herds with 30+ animals running around. This is the only one we have seen on any of the trail cams. That, and a lone spike running around.

The pictures kinda suck as I was just standing there without a tripod or anything. First picture he's about 450 yards away. Second one ~350 yards or so.

That's a monster. Where we hunt they don't really get that big due to lack of food and high number of predators.

Here's my dad's bull from last year. He's 6' tall. This is a BIG bull for where we hunt.

I honestly dont think ive ever had rings that far out. Guess Ive just been lucky! But i do tend to use higher quality rings/mounts and not the cheap wal-mart stuff.

3 bed, 2 bath, 1250sqft. It's 50 years old and small, but the neighborhood is decent... we're just hoping to move somewhere with less people and more land as long as the market doesn't tank in the next 6 months.

Market wont tank anytime soon. Even if there is a bit of a bubble burst, we won't be affected as much because our growth isn't driven by sub prime lending. It was forecasted for home values to slow down in terms of increasing next year, but not drop (due to construction catching up to demand).

I would be interested to take a look, but I don't think my wife would like to move into a house literally 1/2 the sq/ft for probably a lot more than what our place is worth here in east renton.

Neighborhood and schools are probably a lot nicer though for sure.
