If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
Planning for an expedition to explore the "Forgotten Corner" (NE WA) next Spring/Summer.

I called the Colville Natl. Forest HQ today and talked to the lady for a while. She said there are tons (80+ miles) of ORV trails up there, and camping is permitted literally anywhere. She is sending me a bunch of maps that outline all the trails, lakes, developed camps etc.

I was camping/hiking in the Ione & Metaline Falls area a few years back and it was awesome. Been wanting to get back up there and wheel/explore/hike. I want it to be a long(er) trip, probably 5 days at least.

NWjeepn has a bunch of trails listed, but they've never gone up there to map them or write reviews.
    http://nwjeepn.com/WAtrails.htm#kettle
    (kettle falls area)

I will post up periodically as I get a more solid plan and probably start a thread when the time comes.

Fcking BEAUTIFUL part of this state that few travel to. God damn.
Depending on the time of year, there's usually snow up there, which is awesome... also just something to be aware of for camping/gear prep.

aaaaaand some of those areas in the NE corner have pretty high concentrations of bear/cougar (compared to the rest of the state). So if anyone happens to apply/draw a spring bear tag for an area up there, a rifle might be good to throw in the truck-- ya never know driving miles of less traveled NF roads :)

Something that could be useful as well with this is that I am looking very hard into moving to Spokane in the next few months to a place with 10 acres and a 6000 square foot house (yes i did mean six thousand). If things all come together, I would in theory have a spot for everybody to meet at on a Friday night after driving across the state (or maybe a Thursday before a long weekend), then go out from there early Saturday (or Friday) morning.

I'd be down for a WA camp/wheeling trip. Be cool to have another annual trip like TSF.

Not sure about next weekend, NOAA doesn't predict that far in advance but 70% chance for snow tonight (1-3").

I'd be down to pop off some rounds

Im on the north end of the Peninsula and Im pretty armature to be honest, so Ive only run some of the trails in the Olympics (Slab Camp if anyone knows it). Itd be cool to join ya on one of your meets if you have one within an hours drive of me.

i am also a rookie at this, and if i had more time, i probably would go to this as well, but i have other things i am dealing with. the only way to get more experience is to get out there and do the runs. from what everybody here has said, i would be money that there will be a few more snow runs this year.

also, don't be afraid to drive over an hour to get somewhere to go wheeling. my first wheeling trip was Liberty, near cle elum, and i live near everett.

I live in Poulsbo and I have drove to the other side. Ask Zack and the others. I will be down this weekend, especially since it's payday. I too will bring my guns.

Nice! I've wanted to do some exploring there. I've got a friend in Curlew that I visit occasionally.
