I'd need one helluva downhill run to do that currently.

That's amateur stuff. Some guy last Friday in Everett speeding down airport road missed the corner to get on Boeing freeway, hit the guardrail and ended up clearing all 4 lanes of Boeing freeway, threaded the needle between a power pole and it's support wires, cleared all of the utilities including some natural gas stuff at the edge of the Boeing parking lot and landed just outside the main doors of the main Boeing factory. It was some kind of Dodge but it was kind of hard to tell which model based on what was left. Someone at work put together a whole PowerPoint with a bunch of pictures detailing the whole thing.

Well if you're gonna do something do it right. I not only threw 1 rod, I threw 2! @Usethe2nd

The #2 cylinder rod completely left the crank, and upon floating in the sump, it took out #1. While I was looking for any last minute wires to disconect I noticed another internal piece that had come out to say hi on the other side of the block. :patsselfonback: :eek:wmyarm:

    Isn’t that usually the case?

Sorry about your engine. My first FJ40 one of the rods let go and the motor ate itself.

There's no turning back when a rod let's go. Chalk it up to experience and now you're wiser for the wear. Something about learning the hard way is just 2nd nature to me. This truck was too good to be true and the seller didn't even flinch when I low balled him $3k. Now I'm spending $3k+ for a new motor and upkeep on a 12yr old 185k truck I still owe on. It's been fucked since the day I drove it home. Que Sera Sera.

Damn man!! Did it even have a knock or tick a sign at all of a spun bearing. Still sucks to see this carnage for ya just before the good snow wheeling.

Are you outside king county for smog reasons?

It had a tick which I wrote off to a timing chain tick. Coming from old Toyotas, they always had a slight timing chain chatter to them. This sounded just like that for the last few months. Cold start I'd hear some feed back, but once warmed up it was gone. It wasnt loud or obvious like a rod knock. Which is why I originally thought it was the timing chain that snapped.

I live in unincorporated king county.

    What's smog? :D

Just about every vehicle I've owned gets factory restrictions removed, I can't leave it alone. However this is my first modern/efi vehicle. Typically it's been headers and Weber's, maybe a cam in there. I hate all this sensor/computer controlled shit. #welcome to the #2000's

Very fortunate you are, I passed on north bend because it's still got smog checks.

The infamous Toyota tick took out my 85 at the dunes in florence. That was a long crappy weekend. They have some good stand alone injection systems now days. Maybe a small tuboed dersil is in order from Isuzu??

    NB has smog?

I don’t think I’ve ever ran a vehicle through testing outside of work
