I like this style, but I've only used them a handful of times. My General Grabber AT2s do pretty good on everything but ice rinks.

Does it have a Snow Mode or anything like that? The wife's highlander with Michelin Defender LTX from Costco is a beast in the snow/ice we've been having. Her biggest complaint is she doesn't realize how bad the roads are since it does so well.

Yeah I'm running off-road tires and 4wd so when conditions are so bad that I actually need to chain up on the road I'm not worried about using chains instead of cables

I have AWD thats split 60 back/40 front. I think youre supposed to put them on one front and one rear.

Snow mode just starts in 2nd gear. I have no problems going, its turning and some stopping thats the issue.

I carry two pair and do all four. I figure that if it's bad enough to pull the chains out then I'm all in. I run 235/85/16s though so I have enough room to clear the front suspension. Not sure how much room you've got in your Lexus

No do not put one on the front and one on the rear!

If 2wd chains go on the drive axle, be that front or rear.
If AWD/4wd put on front axle for best traction and road manners

A few 4-inch screws should to the trick for ice :anonymous:

I drove a cross trek with studded tires on it for a week in Iceland and it was a fuckin beast.

Pro tip: you can balance your tire by screwing them in or out as needed

Thats good to know. I run the same size tires, but have never chained a front unless its straight axle.

    Win for Mr Sunshine!

@Nimitz was that you cooking through west seattle around noon plate number BEC.....

I run the highest grade chain I can find, like these. Got em for a bill at discount I believe.

Double check that they'll clear before you need them just to be safe, I don't think my chains are as burly as the ones you showed

You're the T.Low of the Lexus world :)

T.Low converted his AWD Chevy Astro to 4wd using a truck transfer case, then installed a GTRV pop top. He lifted the van a little and wheeled the crap out of it. It's a neat little rig.

Garbage company said it was too icy to pick up my trash yesterday, but they have the nerve to drive these around at T-Birds games. :goingcrazy:

Yeah too snowy to pick up our garbage last Monday. More snow next Monday. Lucky I have some old tires so we can burn it.

Better check the clearance between the top of the spindle and the sidewall. Mine rub there just a bit. Not enough to stop me from running them.

EDIT: I'm running pickup sized camlocks, no ice breakers.
