Yup - I had those fail on me as well. I drove up to ARB and worked with Erik to determine that was the failure point. He sent me a replacement set and I installed them last year. They started squeaking like crazy about 6 months later.

I noticed the new replacement BP-51s have a different lower spherical bearing and bushing, so maybe they fixed that problem (???)

Shit I thought this was just me. They seem softer by the time i get out of my neighborhood. The first two big bumps I go over seem pretty harsh but its not bad by the time i get to a main street.

I'm actually at 15mm driver / 13mm passenger. Driver side is still 1/2" lower than passenger. It needs to be raised to probably 18mm driver / 15mm passenger, but I am holding off because I had already planned on removing a leaf from my dakar pack. I have a similar setup with arb bumper, winch, full skids, sliders, group 29 battery over passenger fender. This photo is with the current 15mm / 13mm setup. It will probably settle more. I just realized the photo is with my skids removed.

Nice, good info. I'll probably go for 18/15, and maybe throw a spacer on top just to get a bit more clearance.

Did you also trim the wings on your ARB bumper?

I just chopped about 4" off mine last weekend because it stuck out into the wheel well almost 2" with the flare removed.

Don’t you have custom shackle points on your ARB you did a few years ago?

Yup, I've modified the hell out of that bumper: added 1" recovery points, 3/16" plate steel skid, Rigid SRQ2 (instead of the turn signals).

Just chopped and replated the wings and welded in some angle-cut square tubes for Rigid Amber duallys.

My Taco lean is ridiculous. Embarrassing actually. Anyone add 1/4 top spacer to their BP-51s?
All the typical issues and two agm batteries on that side does not help.

How many beers does it take to grow the balls to cut your own bedsides for a prototype bumper that you're making out of cardboard?

Do you never have your truck at the moonshiners swap meet? How have I never seen this modded arb bumper before....?

I brought it last year....I was selling a bunch of the TRD Skull shirts to support our SAR unit, too. We didn't end-up attending this year, though; our unit's funds are limited and we needed to spend it on other priorities. If we can get a few more grants and donations, we plan on going back again next year. It's a good time and good exposure for 4x4 SAR, in general.

I have a 1/4" spacer on both sides right now (because I was too newb to get the preload adjusted and needed the extra clearance). I hope to get the preload adjusted this weekend and may either keep them on, or maybe just the pass. side if the lean is still significant with the 18/15 numbers.

Any interest in a h/c rear winch combo that still retains the hitch?

Yes to all of the above. I have the OEM hitch have been wondering why it can't integrate into an H/C Rear. I've caught up on most of the little mods I've wanted to do, and have done enough welding, DIY mods and damage to my truck that I am confident to tackle a DIY HC rear bumper as my next "big" mod project.

My only dilemma is if I want a swing out or not. The smart guy in me says "NO! Your long-ass trail limo DOES NOT need any extra length!" but the mall-crawler in me says "But the swingouts are sooooo kewl!!!"
