Ah yea, only issue I see is that the OE neoprene boots never lasted that long for me compared to the thermoplastic ones.

anyone curious I did follow up with the guy I was working with at Toyota. He did mention that pretty much right now Toyota does not do the remanufacturing. For the first gens they actually have Cardone do their rebuilds. So that was interesting.

Also confirmed only the manufactured ones are currently offered at $300. Waiting on confirmation from CVJ to identify if my CVs are actually OEM before I sacrifice the core cost shipping back auto parts store CVs that the old owner had put on. All in all, also thinking the heavy duty Cardone model may be more than sufficient based on the above. We will see what they say Monday.

In the meantime if anyone has a definitive way to determine an OEM CV axle for the 2nd gens let me know. I know the first gens had green axle shafts for auto locking hubs and red for manual, black for reman and then finally 2nd gen abandoned that system. @utroda mentioned a green tag possibly but I don’t see that on mine.

Mine had green paint/tape/marking on the shaft itself just about an 1" wide when I replaced them, and one of the napa remans I picked up had a faint similar green marking also. The other shaft did not, but looked almost 100% identical to the naked eye. :notsure: dunno if that helps anything.

Yep that’s pretty much what Utroda said too. Lol at the fact that Napa just does the same. I guess I can try to compare once the Cardones get here Monday. It helps a bit though man thanks for the reply. I am going to see if the new 4Runner my fiancé got matches your description and try to use that. Hopefully that works.

Well :( probably the last time I'll see this truck as my boss just sold it today. 69 f250 highboy with 390. When I started working for him ~15yrs ago he had just bought it at auction and we did a frame off restoration on it. It was previously a walla walla fire dept truck with something like 60k original miles. It had sat outside and was structuraly in great shape, but had faded pretty bad from the sun. I meant to look at the odometer to see what it has on it now but I never saw him drive it so I imagine it's still got close to the same miles. If only I had $40k laying around.

I should have asked for a draw

Fun story. My dad and uncle have had a bet with each other about retirement. Whoever retires first gets taken on a trip paid for by the other. My dad is older by a couple years. My uncle made a big announcement several months ago that he put in his intent to retire with his employer for later this month. I've flipped him shit since then saying my dad is going to retire at the end of Sept or early Oct. My wife saw a post on Facebook last night from my uncle about my dad retiring before him, and I figured it was more talk. My dad called last night after I had gone to bed and left me a message to say my uncle was ranting about something on facebook, but don't let the cat out of the bag. Sounds like my uncle will be paying to take my dad on a trip.

I've got the 12v Cummins with p7100 injection pump but it will be a cold day in hell before I let it go.

Ok weird problem time guys. I left my truck parked at my GF's place while she was out of town for a week and used her car as a commuter (40mpg vs 13mpg). When she got back into town i went over, hopped in and drove it to work the next day, I had a code pop up P0500 (VSS fault). My factory speedometer is reading correctly (15mph off since the regear) but my ultragauge does not register a speed. I took the scan tool home and used it to check my VSS output and it shows zero. So i guess the question is why does my speedo work, yet my ECU doesnt show a vehicle speed from my OBDII port?

Who here has made their own mud flaps? Not a fan of the off the shelf options. I need something more flexible. Had Rokblokz last and they sucked. Got torn off on rocks because they’re stiff AF. Looking for material recommendations

You can buy 1 mudflap from a semi and make all 4 peaces A little on the thicker size though

Yeah that’s an idea but you already said it. That is quite thick and may be too much weight for the flimsy fender flares
