Gotcha. Pneumatic hammer ftw

 

I hated that project.

 

Watched a couple vids on swapping them out. I'd rather do those than my LCAs for sure. Grind the heads off, beat to a pulp with a pneumatic hammer, shouldn't be too bad

 

I’d just pay someone to do it, I’m sure a PDX member is looking to make some cash

 

I almost said that

 

Little under 2 hours and the hangers and rivets are out. Just need to drill the holes bigger and reinstall. I used a cutoff wheel to cut an x in the rivet heads. Air hammer to cut them flush. Bfh and a couple chisels to break them free from the frame and then a ball joint press to pop the rivets out.

 

Also top 3 favorite tool.

That's a killer deal. That batteries are damn near worth most of that.

Edit: that's an impact driver not an impact gun. Still a good deal

 

You can just buy the batteries too for like $100

 

It's amazing outside and I'm new as fuck...any recommendations on where to go? Preferably outside...

cause several hours of misery and a slew of words you won’t want anyone under 16 to hear

 

claimed better ride quality and less flex from the stock leaf hangers. The wife noticed the difference on her first ride without knowing what we did on the truck. There is a section of road that has some roots growing under it by my house that has a great washboard feel to it. With the icon aal and 5100’s the back of the truck would just chatter across it. The icon and kings resulted in much less bounce. With the deavers and kings the largest ridge still caused a bit of hop but the rest were good. First trip over it each direction with the hammer hangers and the wheel seems to stay planted without going airborne.

About 2 hrs last night getting them out and with help it took 45-60 minutes to finish up today.

 

Nice. First hand experience is always good. The back end can definitely use all the help it can get. I've found even with the ads it can still be harsh. If I ever finish my LCAs maybe I'll attack that too

Did you go with stock shackles? The options are confusing.

The weldable primer on the Total Chaos gussets is currently drying. I figured those would be an easier route

 

I bought a set of stock shackles from Toyota of Kirkland for $24 and bought a set of poly bushings on Amazon for $55. I have enough bushings to do 2 more pairs of shackles. Eric at Archive sells stronger shackles but says they aren’t needed over the oem ones with upgraded poly bushings.
