If you have the room save the axles and the break line and at least keep the speed sensors. If your are going to toss it I would take it though and put it up on a shelf in the shop incase someone gets in a pinch and needs something off it.

Your welcome @Tacodog. It’s nice getting a little Tacoma therapy. I enjoy working on these trucks.

A nice little short story from last weekend. Me and the girlfriend took the trucks up in the snow and got first tracks up at spada lake. Almost made it up to the top to the turn around spot but the snow was getting too deep and the diffs were really dragging.

    IMG-3023.jpg

Unfortunately when we went to turn around Jenna got sucked into a snow bank and I found out that my winch controller had a pin break off sometime in the last couple weeks and the winch was a no go so i hooked up my kenetic rope to her and after some digging and some tugging I finally got her out but not before a wonderful exploding noise that ended up being her rear differential committing suicide after 200,000 less than gentle miles.

    IMG-3032.jpg

We ended up limping the truck off the mountain about 12.5 miles at about 3mph. On the way down we ran into (literally and figuratively) a few different rigs that tried to follow our tracks up, the first was a jeep wrangler with open diffs that slid sideways into a ditch. When I tried to get by him to pull him downhill my back end slid and hit his steel bumper. Guess ill be getting a high clearance bumper sooner rather than later.

    IMG-3024.jpg

down the trail a bit was a tundra and a gmc 2500 both on street tires that were stuck probably 100 yards from where the pavement ends so we pulled them out too and got them turned around (without running into any of them) and kept our slow crawl down the sultan basin road.

    IMG-3026.jpg

we ended up getting out of there pretty late and parking her tuck in sultan (sketchy) until we picked it up the next day. I found a rear diff for a decent price this week and put it in and managed to mostly pop out the dent on my truck. Moral of the story is stay away from jeeps and check your winch plugs.

Bunch of stuff bolted on, some cool, some not
Sounds like quite the adventure! My truck is covered in unintentional dents, I think it comes with the territory.

yup its definitely not the first dent and wont be the last. plus i couldn't feel too sorry for myself at the time because my girlfriend was driving down the mountain with a differential that sounded like world war 3

Any downsides to the roofrack that comes on sports? The only thing I would ever put up there is our yakima cargo box and maybe and mounting an awning. I like the idea of when not in use it can fold open so I dont get extra wind noise.

It's a great project to learn and practice on, as everything pieces together perfectly and the outside welds get ground down into a rounded corner in the end, so the welds dont have to look pretty at all for the most part

Finished the bumper the other night! It is a Coastal Offroad "extreme" clearence front flat top. Gets rid of the low hanging front crossmember. Just need to make a bulletproof front skid and shes ready to wheel again
