answering my own question, water level is still pretty high judging by a photo from 3 days ago.

 

Possibly relocating to the Tacoma area for a new job. How bad is the rental situation?

 

Depends on where you’re coming from. But it isn’t good.

 

If you’re wanting to rent in Tacoma, I’d check the neighborhood out very well before you commit to a lease. Some parts are beautiful and some are very sketchy.

 

Either look downtown, stadium district, university place, or anywhere with North in the address.

 

Absolutely correct! Stay away from hilltop or MLK…north Tacoma is usually pretty nice

So. Much. Traffic. I5 at McChord is fucking atrocious

 

Just don’t live south of the base and try and commute north in the morning. Better off living north and heading south. I did that when I was stationed there.

 

DuPont is a nicer area too, or at least it used to be. Less to do though.

the only time i have traffic from yelm to base is if i5 shuts down. or coming home in the afternoon. and its only bad at the one stop light in mckenna, then when i actually get into yelm but its tolerable

 

How about Gig Harbor area? Would that be a bad commute?

Just watched it, now Im getting second thoughts about moving.

 

Hilltop is not nearly what it once was. The entire area is pretty gentrified at this point.

 

Gig harbor is nice if you don’t mind paying a toll to go over the bridge daily.
