If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
Can't make it tomorrow, and I'm gonna be out of town the next 2 weekends :(

BUT, I'm gonna have Veteran's Day off, and a 4 day weekend for Thanksgiving.

I haven't been to much up here, honestly. This weekend I had a funeral and I'm trying to do stuff around the house, otherwise I would have taken a peek at Evans

yeah, it's hard to get an idea of what a new trail is like based on other people. Me personally, I'm the type where we can go on an exploration mission to places and test the waters. If whereever we go turns out to be too tough, even if it's in the first half hour - that's ok.

For those that don't want to drive, there's always passenger seats. This helps get the worried people out there, helps cut down the number of vehicles (which makes exploration faster), and it's always fun to have co-pilots to talk to!

if there's interest in a exploration trip somewhere, I can do that. I'd say we set some rules:
    1. We really have to be considerate of other people's comfort levels, and we have to feel free to express those concerns. If the trail becomes too narrow, slick, treacherous, we need to be ready to evaluate options of sending a scout, evaluating an obstacle, parking a vehicle, or ending the trip. Some of us may be more comfortable with the challenge, but be willing to concede and save that trip for a later time with a more prepared group.
    2. We need to be OK with having a day where the trip wasn't what we planned. Maybe it's a boring road. Maybe it's too hard and we head back almost as soon as we arrive. Not all trips are going to be glorious. We have to be OK with that. Would you rather have spent the day on the couch?
    3. We always need plan B. If the trip ends early, we invoke plan B. Plan B involves food and drink :D A lousy road is easily forgotten over warm food and good conversation!

Plan B should involve alcohol. i personally am a beer snob, so if people get to know local breweries or specialty retail stores around an area, that would make my plan b much more entertaining.

next summer, i should hopefully be a little free-er financially, and maybe there can be a camping weekend planned that i would be happy to join in on and partake of more beer at once than should be had when driving is being planned soon after.

Im down to do an exploration trip. Would definitely help me learn some trails. I just want to get out for a day somewhere. Even if it is boring.

I was going to say that, but I didn't want to exclude younger members - therefore, plan b should be pub-minded.
I'm not really a snob, but I think beer should taste good, not be stuck in a funnel.

I currently have the following days open:
    Nov 4
Possibly weekend of 10th. My brother is coming up and I'm lettign him decide what he'd like to do when he visits
    Weekend of 17th

My vote is Evans. i know that a few of you have gone, but I keep getting dubious reports of it needing narrow rigs.
Barring that, the winter is getting to be upon us, which means easy trails become interesting with snow. I'm wondering if Fortune Creek to Hawkins Mtn Mines Trail might be interesting?
Tinkham road (between exit 42 and 47 off i-90) is supposed to be good for snow from what I've seen all.on.black say

in lynnwood, there is a brewery/pub, Big E's (Ellersick Brewing) that i used to visit frequently when i lived down that way. not only do they brew their own beers, but the also have root beer. all of their products are available to go ranging in size from a growler to a 13.5 gallon keg. where i live now is about 1 mile away from a place that has about 50 different beers on tap, and the fill growlers. several of their products are from Big E's.

also something to look into for the winter time can be using the trucks a little less and our own legs a little more. what does everybody think of wintertime hikes? off Highway 92 east of granite falls, there are a shit ton of hiking trails. we could set up some sort of hike, and afterwards end up back at my house (where hiway 92 meets hiway 9) and hang out. if it is far enough in winter, people can try their traction going between the horse pastures. that is one of 2 places i have been able to get my truck stuck, and this one was because of mud with no traction.

That sounds pretty awesome. Just being honest, i can do 5 miles fine and my idea of a serious hike is probably 12 miles. However, I can cross country ski like a mofo.

I can barely run a damn mile, and I haven't really tried monitoring my hiking distances so I honestly don't know how long I would last lol. But thats only a half hour from me so I would be down.

Any chance there any any open hunting areas around there? :D

Im down for just about anywhere, and the 4th works for me.

Never done a winter hike and dont know if I have the right gear for it but love to go hiking so I'd be willing to pick up some winter gear for it if you want to get something planned. Not the fastest hiker but stubborn enough to not want to head back till I get there.
