I've been running CVJ for around 15k miles and there is no rub wear. I would recommend their axles...

Compare the image to your stock boots. I have no boot fin rub at ride hight with Icon's set around 2.5" of lift. I am running the Silicone cv axle boots on the inners.

Thats pretty much what my kings are set at. I emailed them and they quoted me at $100 for each with a refundable $95 core charge as long as I send this one in. Im going to do both sides since my passenger side will most likely tear soon too. I figure I can drive for a month or 2 like this but ill get it done soon. Do you have the extended boots? Very hard to do it yourself? I know there are parts that are a pain to do but overall doesn't look that bad.

I have their standard boot on the outer and the Silicone "offroad" boot on the inners. I also asked that they slide the boot a bit on shaft, which they did. The upgraded Silicone cv axle boots(the red boot) are a bit more money though. I went for it because it always seems to be the inner that fails on our lifted trucks.

Why have them slide the boot on the shaft? Ill have to give them a call and talk to them about what is good for me.

Look up boot slide mod. My boots are mounted just inward of the factory clamp location(Not a lot of movement, but enough). You'll want to call anyway, It's really the only way to order from them.

I don't understand what you got them to do, but having them do the actual boot slide mod seems like custom work that a shop isn't going to want to do, so I'm not sure how you convinced them?? Maybe you sent them special pics :drevil:

Bingo. The main reason your boots tear after lifting is because of the higher CV angles, the fins of the boots rub against each other, wearing them down causing them to tear. Companies like CVJ use longer boots and extend them on the shaft so the fins don't rub on each other.

That's the road that follows the NF Snoqualmie River. I think it's NF-5700, 24 miles of dirt before it dead ends :D

Can anyone recommend a place in the Greater Seattle area (50 mile radius or so..) that sells Canopy's? Looking to pick up a Leer 100XL or something comparable. Looks like Canopy World in Des Moines might be the spot? Any feedback is appreciated!

Who is coming over to help install? I'm trying to figure out when I want to do it... Should be in tomorrow by close of business (shipped from Portland via UPS...). I have some things to do Saturday. Maybe I'll just skip work on Friday and put it on? Or do it Sunday..
