I have lived in Cle Elum/Roslyn area almost my whole life and I have never seen Galena or heard anybody talk about it. Of course the hills in that area are littered with abandoned mines and cabins so I probably didn't think anything of it if I passed it.

Ok so the 16th or 17th seems to be a good start, i know everyone is up for a snow adventure, so next step is where???

I would'nt mind going to the newly opened reiter foothills on the 17th, also snow high bridge looks cool, didn't look into gelena much and jacks pass looks good but i would have to sit that one out, to far...any other ideas?

Sorry I haven't been much help, I've been running a bit thin lately trying to get on top of some other issues.

From the looks of it, High Steel Bridge itself will not have snow, but as you make your way towards spider Lake, you get to higher elevation. Making all the way to Wynoochee Lake would be probably impossible, since the mountain pass is going to have over 6 feet. Spider Lake would be probably easy, Pine Lake might be too much... I don't know the area, I'm just looking at a snow map and google. If we wanted to go there, it would be pretty exploratory.

Gifford Pinchot area would have around 2 feet of snow all over it, topping out at 4 feet in upper elevations.

Name a time and location and I'll be there, either way.

Now the gifford pinchot is more my neck of the woods.... Unfortunately they usually plow all the snow into a barrier Thats only (supposed) to be passed by snowmobiles, they even go as far as posting signs... It usually doesn't open to all motor traffic until the snow barrier melts away... Around april-ish???

If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
I'm down for the 16th, but cannot do the 17th, so Reiter would have to wait until March for me. I wouldn't mind exploring FS-23 again (high Steel Bridge area).

Hard for me to tell which day would work so I'll just say I'm tentative but whatever day it is will try my best to make it. I really need to take some time and get my winch hooked up. It's starting to sound ridiculous even to myself that I've owned a winch for 5 months but have yet to install it. Such is the life of a professional procrastinator.
