It wasnt really due to the hoops. It was just one of those freak accidents. He hit it just right and it just went straight through the light. It actually hit his battery too....thankfully only the light was damaged. The hopp might have actually helped by creating a pivot point for the branch to break off.

The axe was good to have...but im buying a chain saw for myself! And i want to pick up a couple other shackles. Bubba rope makes a nice synthetic rope shackle that looks nice its just expensive. Just sucks that the ARB ones are like 1/8" to small for the factor55 hook thingy :(

o and i want maxtrax for myself too!

I need a better camera too. All i have is a canon point and shoot. Which does ok but compared to everyone elses its lacking

Soft shackles aren't that difficult to make if you don't want to shell out the bucks. I played around with making them a while back, think I've got five or six of 'em now.

    http://www.animatedknots.com/softshackleedwards/

I used 1/2" Amsteel from LFS Marine at about $2.50/ft. I can't remember how many feet it took per each, I think it was about 4'. Some of that will be waste. Amsteel is pretty easy to work with if you've never made anything like this. It'd probably take you an hour to make the first one, fifteen minutes to make the third one, assuming that you know how to tie your shoes.

As a side note, once you've learned how easy it is to work with Amsteel you'll probably never buy a "winchline" again. It's far cheaper to buy the line and make your own, and it can be whatever length you want.

Ill have to check that route. It doesnt look to hard to make overall.

Thankfully my winch line should still have a lot of life left on it (knock n wood)

Fixed one clunk and an exhaust leak. Apparently I had 2 broken bolts on the passenger side motor mount at the frame.

I'm always off Monday-Wednesday and every other Thursday. Might have to get some wheeling in. Usually over on that side Wednesdays if you know of anything fun.

    Hi Casey:wave:
Put your truck in 4 wd yet? Or still saving it for special occasions.
