Well, I was going to find snow tomorrow but my buddy bailed. Oh well, maintenence day. Rotate tires, find what the hell the creak is from my rear when in reverse. Sounds like a hamster wheel. Hoping it isn't a u joint..

Snow got deeper too and ended up plowing the trail a lot. Probably ended up going through a good 4ft

Anyone know who drives a red 2nd Gen dcsb with some sort of lift? Looks like a basic sr5 with black stock rear bumper. They were cruising by me on 405 south today around 1:50 or so.

Hey all, I'm not trying to be a jerk when I say this , but after being with a SAR group for a few years, it's typically harmful to have non-personnel conducting their own searches. I know you mean well, but you can create false clues, get in the way, and at worst, require rescue yourself. Disturbing the landscape expands the search area, causing extra time spent looking for people who may by dying. Additionally, you may provide information that is already known, incorrect, or unnecessary, causing slowdown. Sometimes the media doesn't report the full story, and there may be a criminal aspect of the search that can put you in danger as well.
Back during the mudslides, civilians were employed because the task was too overwhelming given the area and the number of missing persons, so it's not unheard of; however, SAR command, FEMA, and police will typically phase in support and provide a communications infrastructure to make sure that they are getting correct reports.

The best thing to do is precisely what @northwesttaco did, and phone ahead.

Try checking out marine equipment stores as well to see if they have any Amsteel Blue at a good price. You might have to crimp on the piece that goes to the drum, which might not make it worth it if you can't find that piece. WARN has a total POS crimp that I hate, but whatever. It's a simple metal crimp with a threaded hole; they supply a hex headed machine bolt that threads through it and into the side of the drum. I have busted the head on one screw already

My search has begun for a king pin Dana 60. The sas won't come anytime soon, but the parts are starting to build up :)

Normally i'd agree 100% with ya. But in this case it wasnt so much of a running our own SAR but rather a few of us going off roading in that area and keeping an eye out for them. Yeah our plan was going to be hit the roads they probably would be on, but it was also to go have fun out in the snow!

But a normal SAR....yup i stay out of their way!

Merry belated christmas guys! Just got back from a week down in Tahoe visiting family, hitting the slopes, and catching an awesome stomach flu. Hope everyone had a great holiday, now to get back to the build and catch up with all these TW notifications.

For the first time I ventured outside of this thread here on Tacomaworld.

    This forum is fucking cancer.

How has none of it flooded into here, I wonder?

Bahahaha, it amazes me sometimes what goes on outside this and the few other threads I sub to. Interacting with idiots on a daily basis makes it seem normal.... Almost.

At least you found your way back here.
