Yeah, kind of the other side of rainier, if it's near Mowatt lake as the jeep site says. As well, should check with forest service, cuz there's prolly a LOT of snow. Like 12 feet.
But I haven't been during winter, so is speculation. I'm just thinking if stuff by Cle Elum is gated, Mowatt surely is?

Ok, anyone need tires and wheels? I have 4 ea 17" TRD sport wheels, and General AT2 P rate tires 265/65/17. For sale CHEAP! You guy get 1st crack, otherwise I'm gonna recycle them. PM me with an offer. Wheels have a couple scrapes in the spokes ( @northwestacos fault) could be cleaned up or great candidates for derping!

I have no idea man, I'm not running this show and am still very new to the area haha. I guess when the other Josh, @LAoffroadin gets back on here he can help figure it out.

So, just to confirm. We are meeting up on MLK day at 10:00 at the Safeway off of I-90 in North Bend. Then we are heading to surprise lake?

Do you have the address for the Safeway.

I believe @LAoffroadin is doing one on "Martin Luther King" (MLK) day to the surprise lake trail, and this coming Saturday the 16th @northwesttaco is heading a group up past the granite falls area? For those attending this MLK run, I'd suggest a meet location of here: 35415 Fairfax Forest Reserve Rd E, Carbonado, WA 98323 . That looks like the right trail head according to the jeep forum.

Not trying to tell you guys where to go, I've never been there myself, just suggestions.

And if you're in northwesttacos group, pm or tag him with questions.

Dang it, wish I had MLK off, you guys are meeting basically by my house (North Bend). Oh well, maybe next time!

By the way, do you all use GPS on the trails? I have a Garmin 64s with 100K topo maps and I'm curious what maps you guys would recommend. I'm eyeing the Garmin 24K topo since they're routable, but do you guys use any other ones for the NW trails?

It makes no sense at all for you guys to meet in North Bend. That's wayyy out of the way unless you live like... well... in North Bend.

There's a Chevron here that I think would make a lot more sense. Fuel up, get some snacks, etc.:
    14120 Washington 165
    Buckley, WA 98321

I likely won't be able to make it, but it does look like a fun trail. Unless it's snowed in.

Ive been using an app on my phone called OSMand. Its worked quite well for all the main trails. If its on a forest service map or google maps its on OSMand is what ive found.

    Are floor mats a mod?

    Been said.

@LAoffroadin - you ought to maybe call the ranger station at Greenwater and check if its open/passable?
