Got the call yesterday- the rack was back from getting powder coated.

I didn't want to post a bunch of iPotato pics, so I waited until today so I could take some proper shots of it in it's natural habitat... A parking garage.

To say I am pleased with the outcome would be a massive understatement. I freaking love this thing.

Anyone need to build anything for their rig or do any mods to their truck? I got some mail today and have some parts sitting around that I ordered a month or so ago....... looking to replace my uni-balls, and lower ball joints. Got some spindle gussets, I need to coordinate some welding time! I'm going to cut back my cab mounts more and re-cap them soon. U-bolt flip kit and new bumps, along with doing the diff breather mod while I'm back there. Also waiting for a ADD W1 oil catch can to come in!!

 

Custom rack built by you....? or production that you mounted? the fitment looks great, and goes well with the rest of your rig! Nice Runner!! What are the plans for loading gear? RTT/recovery gear/Awning........

 

The rack was designed by me in AutoCAD and built by a fabricator in Monroe that I found on Craiglist of all places.

I already have a roof top tent and awning, so I'll be attaching those when the weather clears up. Probably throw a set of recovery boards up there as well.

With my street suspension and Goodyear Duraslicks I need all the help I can get.

I thought about that, but then I realized it'd be literally impossible to access a bolt under the tent because the rack, at it's closest point, is 1/2" off of the roof of the runner. I have little boy hands, but even I cannot fit my fingers in there. My intent is to use U-bolts around round frame of the rack so that I can easily access the bolt with the rack and tent both installed. However, that brings up the issue of security, which I am still unsure on.

The part I am most stoked about is the fact that my tent is going to sit 1-1/2" off the roof of my 4Runner now. I don't care who you are- that's badass. It literally couldn't possibly sit any lower.

 

@northwesttaco (Apparently there is a guy name northwesttacoma. I wonder if he has red hair.) @Greddy Check this dude out if you need fab work. $60/hr in a clean shop with a FAST turn around. I gave him my design and it was off to powdercoat 48 hours later. He's in Monroe.

 

I think that guy lives in Spokane, Im following his build if its the one im thinking of. Can he do aluminum? Going up to VMI off road on Tuesday to talk about a bed rack with a few options but open to talking to anyone else as well.
