I should be good for breakfast at the Buttered Biscuit. Since the lovely wife made unexpected plans for Sunday afternoon, that changed my plan on going to the swap meet around noonish to first thing in the morning.

So backing down the driveway this morning and while the discount tire guy backed my truck out I hear a squeak.. Definitely rear driveline. The squeak is ONLY when the truck is in reverse, not even in neutral and rolling backwards. @Haslefre does this sound like your symptoms for a bad ujoint? Going to have my friend at the dealer put a shot of grease in it tomorrow to see if that fixes it.. The second I take it out of reverse it stops squeaking even if im rolling backwards still.

Sounds exactly like the issue I had. My squeak is gone after changing the rear u joint. Do you need help changing it, or are you able to get it?

 

Ugh great.. At least I know what it is now, thanks. Do you know of any good write ups on how to? I haven't looked it up yet, was hoping it just needed some grease.

 

If it's squeaking already, chances are it's bad. You could try to grease it? Mine wouldn't take any.

 

But, I followed something on Craigslist with a hammer, a medium socket and a large socket.

Autozone. Not too expensive. Only thing I'd change is the zerk fitting that it comes with.

 

Oh okay. Yeah I think im just going to do all 4 at the same time, doesn't look too bad. @BoatRacer anyway we could have a mod day at your place and I could use your lift? Not a big deal but better than laying on my back after surgery.
