    This was my experience.

    409.jpg

    410.jpg

I learned very quickly that running boards ARE NOT SLIDERS!! Walker Valley is definitely for those with armor. I only went up there once and came back with my tail between my legs. I hear there are alot of different trails with various difficulty levels. However, I have never been able to find info on which trails are which. Seems like you pretty much have to know someone how is familiar with the area to know where and where not to go.

I'm not sure those really are sliders. They don't look like they are welded or bolted to the frame, plus there's no leg supports - it's just one long tube that looks like it is welded to the sheet metal near the pinch weld of the cab?

I'll warn you both that those don't look like they should belong on a truck. My intent for this post is to prevent damage before it occurs and to make sure there's no bad blood between you guys.

Here's some things to look for.

First, sliders need to have proper reinforcement plates for both mounting to the vehicle and stability. Also note the number of feet that attach to the vehicle.

    SlidersandLift-7_c62d12a2c5eeb48e5204ff2d4e30448899582d1c.jpg

Next, these need to be mounted to the frame of the vehicle, either by welding or attachment with Grade 8 bolts

A good slider should be able to support the full weight of the vehicle.

    010_0b325ecb5e154140de0b494072228c561fa1b601.jpg

Note that there will be a little deflection. These pictures are from a different vehicle, but same situation and they show what I'm talking about. There should be some give, but still clearance before hitting the pinch weld.
Note that if you don't give room for that deflection, the pinch weld is going to tap like mad on the slider's feet as you drive down the highway and it will drive you nuts.

A good silder will protect you out in the field. Taking a full drop onto a rock, bumping trees, and sliding around obstacles should all be of no concern.

I absolutely agree w penguins, and that is the exact reason I am taking them off to replace w some real sliders... But however they would be better than nothing at all... But ThX penguins for clarifying what I should have

Going to Evans without sliders is asking for it... We just went up with a few stock 4runners and barely any came out clean... You could do the 311 A trail just fine, but it's short. I don't know too many of the trails, but I've run the one hundred something trail, 311 and 520.

I think the place is called champion armory or something up here by me. It was 14 bucks to rent handguns they have of the same caliber. I can find out more info if you want.

Yes moe is correct it's called champion arms but let me just tell you what happened when I went there to utilize their range....

I show up with my M4 and my XD with my own ammo, they ask for an i.d. So I show them my military I.d. To show that ,"hey I'm not a beginner, I know how to handle a weapon properly" ( I usually do this because it makes things a little easier when dealing with gun shop owners) anyways so he first tells me I can't shoot my own ammo, I need to buy some of his to shoot some, then begins to tell me to bring my M4 outside and not bring it back in so I respectfully place the m4 back in the truck. Walk in, buy some 40 frangible ammo, and shoot. I finish and walk back to the counter to check out their inventory and ask how much my xd is worth. He says 200$ I was blown away by the lowball offer and denied it. Well I was putting it back in the case and a gun shopper at the counter saw it and was asking about my weapon so I explained it and he asks if I want to sell it, as soon as he asks this, the gunship owner tells from across the shop(30ft) and says get the FUCK OUT MY SHOP, you dealing in my shop, I said no sir he was asking about it and I explained it. He then says GTFO in calling the police, he calls me an asshole says I'm a piece of shit and puts his hand on his gun as if he is going to draw his weapon. I freaked and began to grab my mag ( loaded) while explaining to him, " SIR GET YOUR HABD OFF YOUR WEAPON, this is not a big deal, it's a big misunderstanding. I then tell him to relax and I'm leaving he then gets even crazier so I decide to leave and that was it. He did this in front of customers that followed me out, one of the customers that walked out behind me said he was going to purchase a 1300$ weapon until that happened. Did I do something wrong? What y'all think?

I know if you are in a pawn shop and someone is trying to sell something it is illegal for another patron or customer to offer to buy it. Maybe it's the same in gun shops?

either way sounds like the guy overreacted.
