But really, the skinnier the better, I've found. I don't play in the goopy mud enough to ever need a wide tire. Narrow shines best on slick dirt roads and ice, which is the bulk of my bad weather driving.

I think I just did Rock Auto. I regret not doing both inner and outer at the same time. Most shops do both because when one goes, the other side is not far behind. For that matter, it's probably good to just do both sides as well.

Everything I read said that it was an unholy hell job. I think I paid $400 for some other shmuck to do it while I relaxed at my desk job.

    Shit on a black truck.
OK. back to a lift question. Icon is having a 20% off sale. I was looking at the stage 1,2, and 3. All three have the same front shocks. 1 and 2 have different rear shocks with a 1.5" add a leaf. and 3 has all plus tubular UCA's. My question is can I find equivalent UCA's for around the same price and would I be better off with the shocks and finding a whole new leaf pack or is the add a leaf fine? I remember someone saying the stock leafs have problems. Thanks in advance.

With a 3" lift, UCA'S are a must, just to get your front end properly aligned again. I regret going so long without them. I currently have the stock leafs in the back with an add a leaf and it sucks. The ride is harsh with no weight in the rear but once you weight it up then the stock leafs have no load handling ability and start to sag. If you can afford it, go for an aftermarket progressive leaf pack. That's next on my list.

    Heres MY opinions

Upper Control Arms....You can find "better" ones. I quote better cause I havent really seen people have nay issue with Icon's UCA's. They do use a bit of a odd size uniball if i remember right so if you replace it youll spend slightly more than other brands. (talking like 20-30 bucks more for something that will last awhile if taken care of). I run Icon UCA's and havent had any problem.

As for other brands you can look into Total Chaos and Dirt King. There are other brands but those two seem to be well recommended and liked on here.

As for AAL/Leaf Spring.....Replacing the whole pack is going to be the most desired way to go. The stock leaf packs are kind of crappy. The AAL would work as a temporary fix but picking up a whole leaf pack would be the best IMO. There's some good leaf packs out there but the key is making sure your rear shock will work with that leaf pack (have enough travel)

As for the difference...one has a reservoir and one doesnt for the rear shocks. Unless you are doing high speed stuff and really working the rear i doubt youll ever notice a difference between the two. Ask yourself if you realy are going to work the shock hard enough to worry about it getting hot.

And lastly if it was me....right now i would probably buy the stage 1 but talk to the vendor and make sure to get the extended C/O front and also the rear shocks to work with a OME Dakar leaf pack (or which ever pack you decide on).

Then downsouth motorsports has 10% off so i would pick up the leafspring and UCA from them. Unless you go with a Icon UCA in which case get the 20% off from them and the leaf pack from them as well most likely (Downsouth has a 500 minumum to use the 10% off)

@JimSnell After running 14.50 on jeeps I find 10.50-11.50 a solid size for everything. I love the 285's I have now.. haven't tried in snow yet but these at3's stick to eveything. Speaking of...

I have weekends off in January does anyone want to plan a snow run on a weekend in January all except the last weekend!

Christmas came early! Ended up getting Fox 2.0 performance coilovers and rear shocks for my truck. Installed them last weekend and so far I'm loving the way they ride. Much smoother, but more body roll. Bilsteins were more firm, but handled better. Full review here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/fox-2-0-coilovers-rear-shocks.399657/

If anyone local on here is interested, I posted the Bilstein lift kit, lean spacer, and some options for the rear on craigslist: http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/pts/5332595353.html
$300 on craigslist, but $250 to anyone on here. Rear TSB 4-leaf pack for $100. Don't want to ship or anything like that. PM me. Edit: SOLD

I was thinking about Saturday heading up one side or the other of Mt Loop and checking out either Green Mt on the Granite side or Sauk river on the Darrington side trying to find some snow. Not really heavy duty wheeling but it's a fun little exploration in the mountains.

I'll show you some good spots up by darrington if you want. As of right now Saturday is open but could change, depends on when the girlfriend comes home. Or as Alex and Joe say I'm either single or married.. So when ever a friend comes home

We'll either do north mountain or FS road 24. Both get to the top of a mountain and have spectacular views on nice days, and great snow wheeling.
