I did, however, get some new treads mounted up today. Cooper discoverer st maxx in 255/85-16! Really digging the look and feel so far.

Looks good David. Are those considered an all terrain or a mud terrain.

An A/T! I like them a lot! I have em in a 285/75r16 and they are a tough tire and still are very good on the highway, not loud at all!

 

I wonder how the side walls are. I guess they're a big competitor against the Duratracs.

 

I read a comparison and they liked the Cooper's better than the duratracs but they are both good.

Did you keep track of mileage at all on your trip down to California? Just curious what you got on the windy/curvy highways

 

Thanks fellas! I'm hugely impressed with the on-road manners of the coopers so far. Sidewalls are leagues better than the duratracs, no doubt about it.

I get 17mpg basically anywhere I go. That's uncorrected for tire size difference from stock so actual fuel mileage is slightly higher. Butt dyno says acceleration has improved slightly going with the narrower coopers (had 285 duratracs)

 

You running 4.88's?

Thanks! It's been a lot of fun building it up, and an excellent truck for my needs.

No pictures that really show it. I used the bracket that came with the lights and drilled/tapped a hole for each in the OEM tow-bar under the bumper.

 

What brand of lights are they?

Really nice truck and build. I saw on the "what have you done..." that you have a shell now. Very interested to see how your build it up, hopefully you update your thread with pics and info.

 

Thanks, boss! Yep swapped the RTT for a shell. Camped for the first time in it last night actually. I dig it. Still need to iron out a few kinks, but overall I think it's going to be a good solution for my situation/needs (dog).

Still need to figure out a solid lighting solution and a few other little bits and pieces to streamline packing, etc. but it'll get there!

 

When I had my canopy I found that lighting strips under the bed rails was perfect for at night. Doesn't shine in your eyes but still lights up everything.
