found out some sh!tty news this weekend...

4wd is all jacked up currently...
when i flip to 4H my truck engages to 4H but my light continues to flash..i cannot get to 4L from there or back into 2wd..i have to turn the truck off and back on for the truck to disengage 4wd
thinking it is an actuator issue where the truck doesn't know where it is 2wd/4H so it cannot go to either 4L or disengage 4wd...

also noticed was my passenger side cv boot is leaking! :goingcrazy: !!!

a lesser issue but annoying one also was the fact my front diff breather hose was disconnected which allowed fluid to escape and got gear fluid all over the damn place!

so hopefully my truck will be looked at this weekend and figure these damn things out...

looking to upgrade my axles which will at least give me some spare cvs for moab in May!

just comes at a shitty time when i just got a ring for my now fiance, exhaust work just performed, HID retro fit just purchased, holidays coming up and now this....hopefully the repairs are what we think they are and the repair costs can remain low...

    bummer man.

What are you thinking for upgrading axles? Last year I asked a dealership about the cost of new CVs and they said CVJ here in denver was a better option. IIRC you can get a replacement axle for less than $200. They can also make you a custom off road axle. I'm ganna try and get a replacement before moab as well. Hopefully a beefed up axle will still be a decent price.

Maybe it's worth checking them out?

A small handful of select mods.
Not that they are any cheaper but you can use 2003 through (whenever they updated the 4runner last) 4Runner CV's since they are the same as ours. I have one but I am looking for another one so I at least have two. Ball joints and tie rods would be good to have as well. I was thinking about getting the All Pro tie rods and keep the stocks for back up. Anybody else making a good tie rod for our trucks?

On CV's I'm running a set of cheap Cardans at the moment (they will become my spares) when I rebuild the OEM CV's. Here is the Toyota Part #04428-04010 for the boot kit (1 kit per side) comes with boot, C-clips, grease etc. they are cheap and CV's are not hard to rebuild just messy.

yea i'm looking at getting a set from CVJ, guess they have a good warranty program as well

i'm going to have to look into the rebuild kit to repair the damaged side once i swap in the CVJ's so i have 2 spares that are ready to go

then i have to figure out how to install them so i can do the repair on the trail if needed...heard it was a bitch, but doable..

it's definitely on the wish list, but unless i come across some extra $$ i don't need, it won't be anytime soon...maybe down the line when i get a place with a garage i'll look into it more..

that is a sweet deal if you found a FJ Tcase with twin sticks already in it!

FJ twin stick with a crawl box....

The crawl box is cool and all but it's just not needed really for what we are doing on the trails. I just want to do the FJ case and twin sticks.
