Not sure id go inboard after more thought. Especially if I'll be carrying so much in the back.

Can't wait for the truck to be ready this spring!! Going to be great on the trips we have planned/planning already

    Couple questions.
Did your last springs have the expo aal?

    Did they squeak?

What didn't you like about the OME?

Do you always have the tent on your truck?

So Bob if I am reading that right you gained a tad over 1 inch of droop and the shocks really do have 12 inches of travel. Right?

haha yea the spacer looks great! looks like the diff breather has just enough slack too.

what was the issue with the defined shackles? didn't work on your leaf packs?

the defined shackles didn't fit over the Dakar pack and bushings, so those never made it on

with the Toytec leafs being for only a 2" lift i was able to get the longer XJ shackle on and keep my ride height.

if i stay with this setup, i'll be looking for a greaseable XJ shackle to swap in and maybe some greaseable bolts for the leafs..

they're 11" travel shocks...i've been measuring top of the housing to where you see in the pics...thinking i was maxing out the shocks showing 11"...but there must be a point up in there, maybe an inch in, that is not part of the travel numbers..a spacer from the mounting point up there...so maybe showing that 12" there i am now maxing it out.

you saw with the axle drooping without the shocks in, the mounts are below the shock mounts...so if i stay with this setup, maybe i'll look into some limiting straps until i can get a shock relocation setup going..

not sure yet...not for sale yet

contemplating running a lower lift in the rear and zero preload on some 14x700 springs up front...less up travel but still have all the down travel

if i go that route, i'd make the defined shackles work...

if not, i can bring them to moab and you can come get them :p

hmmmmmm ive got numerous ideas/questions now....
at ride height the springs r flat, this will ride really well, but when they sag they will most likely be in a negative arch... can u add an aal to that pack? seems to me that pack wasnt designed to carry as much weight as u have in the back.

also, with those shackles u have on there, looking at shackle angle they seem too far forward moutned on the frame? if they were further back youd, obviously gain lift but also more droop because they would revolve towards the froward of the truck like this / (as viewed from the left side as in ur pics) if they are like this \ normally and still like this \ when drooping arent u loosing out on a ton of droop?

obviously im assuming installing longer shocks is a must and longer brake lines. may need to disconnect shocks and unbolts brake line bracket and flex it out on the lift and measure for shocks/ look into moving mounting point for shackles....

need jasons input, he's the shackle lord:D

Nothing, other than exactly what Bob is having problems with. You change one thing, you have to redo three other things.

I could give my opinion on what to do, but you guys won't do it. Shackle flips are are a meager attempt to gain droop but at the sacrifice of uptravel and spring mortality. My truck doesn't have any much more (if any) droop than most lifted first gens, but I have a shit ton of uptravel. So while yes you can gain more droop, everyone forgets what happens on the other side of an axle when you flex it out...and that is uptravel. SAS trucks were three wheeling over the Crack because of this phenomenon while I didn't lift a tire.

If it were me...factory inverted shackles, expo leaf pack, custom shock hoops and hydro bumps shortened to 1.5-2".

    definitely an on-going battle..

shackle flip also helps to get rid of the shackle hanger that sits down so far...it takes a lot of damage going through the rocks..yes the shackle now hangs down there, but the shackle and leaf are a bit more durable than the hanger toyota has..

a beefed up inverse hanger could be a good option for people...

SUA would be a nice setup if it didn't hang down so much under the axle..

we have a lot of rocky trails around here with boulders that would love to hang up on a SUA setup and love to beat the shit out of the stock hanger...

This is exactly why I am not a fan of doing the shackle flip on 2nd gens. As Jace pointed out, Bob's leaf pack is pretty much flat at ride height. All of the 2nd gen leafs packs are designed to work with the factory inverted shackle. When doing a flip it seems to kill the weight capacity of the leaf pack. You can do like Bob and run longer shackles, but as Jason said, it just turns into a neverending battle between maintaining ride height and weight capacity, droop, and articulation...
