I am happy to hear your input on the Expos on a flipped shackle. As much as I dont really care for the shackle flip I think it may be the band-aid I need. I set my bump height pretty conservatively in a effort to preserve the springs. Well, now that they have settled I would like the ride height back and would prefer not to get into the bumps as early and often as I do. I could stand a bit more neg arch so I can get away with the flip. Seems like a cheap fix for the time being til I sort out a grander plan.

I want the Solo kit mostly for those manual hubs and outers. Manual hubs will be nice for when I break a CV and don't have another spare or want to just drive home and fix it at home instead of on the trail and those outers they run are easier to find than OEM Toyota outers as well as cheaper.

For off the shelf rear kit, I would put my money in DMZ. They live off building Toyotas. IMO, nobody in the industry knows more about LT leaf sprung Toyotas than Tim. If you want to save some coin and balance the shackle hanger location, I would piece meal it together: DMZ front hangers, Deaver E30 pack, DTF shackles/hangers, DMZ Mr. Beefy gusseted u-bolt plates.

    You're welcome...for the $10,000 ride...and it's Mr. Asshole.

Hello no. It's a truck, not a buggy. Links are the only thing I would consider.
I've broken two CV's on the trail and both times drove home. Long as you have an inner and the outer CV cup in place, there's no need for a spare CV. The part that breaks is the CV itself. Remove the axle (did this once) or let the axle bounce around in the cup (yes I did this too....and drove home 40 miles) .

Something to note on mine though - I am running a different fabricator's design for a shackle flip that took some heat on TW early on. It allows for adjustibility to various lengths of springs and shackles. You do not see this design very much. Below is a pic set up with the factory shackles. I am now running Defined Engineering extended length shackles in same hole. I gained a bit about 1/2" in height. With a longer spring in the future I can move the shackle to gain the desired angle for movement and or adjust the lift a bit.

There is negative arch for sure but so far the springs don't mind flexing.

    One final thought on shackles...and I'll un-derail Bob's build.

Shackles are supposed to be used for one thing....and it's not to add travel or lift. Leafs change in lateral length, shorter at droop and longer towards bump. The sole responsibility of a shackle is to accommodate the change in lateral length. If you're using them for anything else (lift), it's a band-aid and isn't going to help you one bit and will beget other problems.
Aside from that, leaf springs are not just springs they are also what locates the axle, side to side and front to back. While driving, accelerating, braking, turning or articulating the rear axle wants to flop all over the fucking place. The only thing stopping that is the spring. Now think of the spring as a giant lever magnifying all that force into the hanger. Travel isn't the problem (the shackle pivoting soaks that up) its the side load and twisting action that the shackle and pivot get subjected to that starts breaking parts. Longer shackles mean's a longer "lever"...and in spirited driving...bent frames. Gusset accordingly!

I am replacing everything rear suspension wise.... I read about shackle flips and at first didn't like what I read. There are a few good upsides to them and I don't carry a ridiculous amount of weight in the rear (ie bed rack, RTT). But a few guys on here that I know run them and said they like their setups so I figured I would give it a try.

Truck goes in tomorrow and then we will see how it all operates!

nobody knows how the hel* to make a leaf spring setup work perfectly in all aspects lol It sounds like if u change one thing, springs or shackles related to benefit an aspect, u sacrifice a different aspect....

    Unless you link it.
I mean...you wanna change spring rate...no problem! Buy a larger rate coil.
Wanna add/remove ride height...no problem! Spin the coilover adjustment as you see fit.

    Some fabrication required :p

They do. That's why you do dual rates with a beefy primary.

King makes 800lb springs. I imagine if you get the lower shock mount really close to the axle it will hold weight pretty well.

If 700lb coils can hold up your front end with the almost 2:1 leverage the weight has on the spring with IFS, I imagine a 1:1 ratio at the rear would do pretty well.
