another update from the weekend...an amazing update :D

after the install of the clutch and tranny, jace had notice my clutch master cylinder was oozing fluid. so i picked up a OEM master friday and tossed that bad boy in saturday afternoon...

man it's nice to have a fresh clutch/tranny in working order :woot:

couple tips for those who ever have to do this...

#1 hire a midget to do the work
#2 if no midget is available, take deep breaths as shit will get frustrating working in such a tight spot :D

    procedure
there's two lines going into the master cylinder, (1) a feeder line coming in from the brake fluid reservoir in the engine bay, rubber (2) the pressure line going from the master down to the slave cylinder on your tranny, driver side

when you disconnect the pressure line, very little fluid comes out...the feeder line on the other hand will drain onto your floor if you aren't careful..to prevent a mess, put rags or pig mats down in your work space..also clamp off your feeder line to limit the amount of fluid coming out when you disconnect..i clamped off in the engine bay below the reservoir and again inside above the master.

take out the kick panel to get better access...you will also have to remove your clutch start sensor in order to gain access to the upper mounting bolt on the master

remove the two bolts holding in the master...carefully loosen and disconnect the pressure line...at this point the master can be moved around a bit easier to gain access to the clamp holding the feeder line onto the master. unclamp and disconnect your feeder...thanks to your clamps, the amount of fluid will be limited coming out...

get your new master, reconnect the feeder and reposition the clamp...move the master in place and loosely connect the pressure line..put the two bolts back in loosely...snug up your pressure line...tighten down your two bolts...and final tighten on your pressure line

check for leaks and then bleed the system...the bleeder valve is on the slave cylinder..if you have a tranny skid, it's best to remove it...with somebody pushing down on the clutch, crack the valve til the fluid stops coming out, then close the valve...use a hose and drain pan, or if you have an old 1qt oil bottle, cut a hole in the cap and have your hose drain into it...if you wrap wire around the bottle, you can hang the contraption under your truck as your doing this process (thanks jace!)

continue this process until all air is out and a nice stream of fluid is coming out...

then put your dust cap back on your slave valve, reattach your clutch start sensor, put your kick panel back on and enjoy

Pretty much everything near Silverton and then some since we have 3 weeks to muck around. I also plan on doing a lot of fishing as I didn't get to use my CO license all that much last year.

expect to see snow still...silverton got hit pretty hard this winter...they're showing a 75" base right now...

some nice areas that could have good fishing would be stony pass, kite lake and heart lake region...it dumps you into the Rio Grande headwater area...not highly traveled...connects the silverton area to lake city area...last time i was going to go through there, fires had the area closed and i couldn't go through...

can't go wrong with that game plan...we're hitting up the maze next month and looking to maybe hit up hell roaring rim and hey joe canyon this year which is just north of where the white rim trail comes back out near mineral bottom

check out the needles district for some really cool areas to hike into...off elephant hill, trails like the joint trail and others in that area...or in lavender and davis canyon there's really cool shit to see
