The wiring looks much better! There's nothing that bothers me more than sloppy wiring. I'd recommend trying to track down some proper terminal covers however, having accidentally dropped an allen wrench on an uncovered positive terminal before I can attest to their functionality.

Made it down to Silverton/Ouray and hit up Engineer Pass recently and as you saw in the trip reports, I knocked Tincup Pass off the list. It's still my first season 4-wheeling so I'm trying to keep it easy, learn the ropes, and enjoy myself.

I just had the same issue on the taco as well. The plastic nipple had broken entirely off and water found its way in from there. Its a fragile little thing.

Wiring looks 1000X better. Tell Kayla, nothing sexier than a pretty girl turning a wrench.

Nice work on the wiring. I've been wanting to redo all mine. Clean it up and wire another fuse block for all the crap I have wired up in the back of the truck. Some day. .....

On Our Way to Ouray for FJ Summit #9
    July 16-19, 2015

With our spring Utah journeys behind us, we've been finally been able to start enjoying a Colorado summer. One we look forward to, is the annual trip to Ouray for FJ Summit. The event itself doesn't excite me that much, but seeing many familiar faces and spending some time exploring that area will always put a smile on my face. :D

We decided to cut a couple hours off our trip to Ouray by heading out late Wednesday night and camp by the Arkansas in Buena Vista. Unfortunately word has gotten out about this spot as nearly all the dispersed camping spots were taken! I stumbled upon a new campsite in the area though and after setting up camp, I took some time to take in the Milky Way views.
    [IMG]FJSummit9-1 by NYCO, on Flickr

This year deciding to venture outside of the town for camp, we took advantage of some great camping in the Amphitheater area above town. We met up with Bobby (@Cascadia Tents) over the weekend and had a great time hanging out with him and his daughter, and Eric (@CoTacoTRD) joined the party Friday. The weekend was filled with many great times including mine explorations, great times by the campfire, Imogene Pass, Poughkeepsie Gulch, painting with light, coffee crazed bears, picnics behind restaurants, RC crawling up the Wall and more testing of the new setups for the FJC.

    Imogene Pass
    7-17-15

Not being part of the FJ Summit "officially", we had the liberty to do our own thing. With Bobby not getting registered into any "official" trail runs, we decided to spend the day exploring Imogene Pass and the many mines along the way.

On our way into Yankee Boy Basin
    [IMG]FJSummit9-4 by NYCO, on Flickr

when you duck off onto Imogene Pass trail, you get your first water crossing almost immediately (also see GIFs above)
    [IMG]FJSummit9-5 by NYCO, on Flickr

    [IMG]FJSummit9-6 by NYCO, on Flickr

and one thing the San Juans have right now is plenty of water
    [IMG]FJSummit9-10 by NYCO, on Flickr

from a past trip with Eric, this water crossing below these falls on Imogene Creek sparked an interest and I finally said fuck it! no better time than now...the line has slowly eroded itself away leaving the best alternative of dropping down the large ledge.
    [IMG]FJSummit9-13 by NYCO, on Flickr

    [IMG]FJSummit9-14 by NYCO, on Flickr

    and it gets tippy quick!
    [IMG]FJSummit9-15 by NYCO, on Flickr

once the front gets down, it's a matter of sliding your belly along the ledge and dropping your ass down it...
    [IMG]FJSummit9-19 by NYCO, on Flickr

    halfway there :D
    [IMG]FJSummit9-20 by NYCO, on Flickr

next step...don't slip down exiting the crossing

    [IMG]FJSummit9-23 by NYCO, on Flickr

so on we went to explore some mines...first stop, Hidden Treasure Mine
    [IMG]FJSummit9-24 by NYCO, on Flickr

after the ladies explored the area for a while, we set out to climb the pass...and of course we took the fun way from the mine

instead of the typical route back of Ophir Pass, I took us back over via Last Dollar Road...nothing difficult, but some great scenery along the way of this forest road

    Poughkeepsie Gulch
    7-18-15

#1 on my list of trails to do this time around was Poughkeepsie Gulch so i can knock "The Wall" off my list...so Saturday Kayla, Eric and I went up to meet up with Woody (IH8MUD) and Jim who were commanding the wall that day.

Day that started with blue skies ended in the clouds....

    [IMG]FJSummit9-58 by NYCO, on Flickr

    [IMG]FJSummit9-59 by NYCO, on Flickr

first up...first attempt had my ass slip off line, so i reset myself and got up just fine the second time around...didn't fuck around, locked up F&R and crawled right up

next up...Kayla...she had some great runs at it, nearly making it up unassisted many times...in the end, we pulled rope to get her up without risking any breakage. :/ sorry kayla

i didn't get a chance to watch Eric's attempt, but it was cut short quickly by falling off line...Woody took advantage of good position for the tug and got him up safely.
    [IMG]FJSummit9-69 by NYCO, on Flickr

    [IMG]FJSummit9-70 by NYCO, on Flickr

they weren't the only ones that day to get winched up...Woody said he pulled line on 30 rigs that day...

i had fun watching "Squishy" take this fun line
    [IMG]FJSummit9-73 by NYCO, on Flickr

    [IMG]FJSummit9-74 by NYCO, on Flickr

unfortunately didn't make it through...kept binding near the top, so she had to back down and try the next hard line which she made it up just fine....

this guy wasn't even trying the "hard" line, but after playing in the mud (which he shouldn't have), he slipped down....hard

after trying out many line options, i was able to get my second rig up as well :D
