I know I saw someone on here that had put 4 or 5 switches from Radio Shack on the panel below the heater control. It looked great but I can't find the thread. The switches were something like these

always liked the OTRATTW switches, so i went that route on that area...there's something about hitting a Fuck Off switch that gets me every time :D

Easily one of my favorite builds on TW! Looking back on it would you still stick with the stock length Total Chaos setup or go with +2? Also, I love the overland expedition look and capabilities but unfortunately I have a prerunner edition and just do not have the rougher trail capabilities of a 4x4. Do you have any suggestions to make my 2wd more capable such as winches, etc? Thanks a lot!

How much do they run? Not a lot of cash to work with until I am on break...

Honestly I'm not too sure. If you're frugal with finding parts around junkyards, etc, you should be able to do it fairly cheaply. Have a search around the forums, I'm sure I've seen some members document the conversion before

Definitely something to look into eventually. 4wd seems like a whole new world.

Definitely. I couldn't imagine a 2wd truck. I bet AZ doesn't get the snow and mud like we do though.

I'm up north in the Flagstaff area. Surprisingly we actually get a really good amount! I guess they compare it to parts of Alaska.

Oh! Might be similar to us then. A winch and a set of traction ramps (Maxtrax etc) get me out of just about anything. By the time you get both (especially if you have to get a bumper to mount winch to) you're probably close to 4wd conversion prices though. Maybe Bob has some more input.. it is his build thread after all :threadjacked:

    4wd conversion = $$$

versus investing in an aluminum bumper with winch combo (get synthetic line), set of maxtrax, snatch block, tow strap, hi-lift, chain...that would get you out of most anything going forward...you can use the hi-lift, chain and tow straps if needed to get you back out of a lot of situations...maxtrax thrown in the mix can save you from pulling line or using other means a lot of times...

also check out Crux Offroad, http://www.cruxoffroad.com, they have a nice product that can be used as a maxtrax style recovery tool, but added rigidity to be used as a bridging tool for ledges...

Northern AZ above the Rim will get snow and a fair amount of it. Look at any footage of OE West back in May. It snowed and rained turning the Expo that was staged in the bottom of a dry lake into a mudhole. Shit was deep doo doo. The kind that doesn't like to clean from any tire.

What are you going to use for the FJ mirrors? I'm waiting to see how the trail toys aspeherical fj mirrors turn out. I'd love some better visibility coupled with heated mirrors.

Looks like a good time. How were the condition with the leaves. Were they very wet and slippery?
