Mine aren't that bad. Pushing 40k on my Camburgs and now going into the 2nd winter on them. Some surface rust I clean off when I see it. But I spray them almost every day in the winter and every time I fill it up in the summer with some liquid wrench (has the same teflon type material that the balls have). Seems to keep it noise free. But might have to check this weekend for any movement since I'm getting a popping sound somewhere

    2 rebuild kits @ 180$ a piece plus the press tool @ 50$

It's not cheap to rebuild these at all. TC confirmed that 40-50k is the avg replacement time.

My bushings are still in great shape so I don't think that will be needed. The only shit part is removing them to rebuild them.

I should've done this before I installed them on the new rig. :pout:

it's doable to replace the uniballs with the arms still on the rig...uppers are so easy to take off, it really doesn't save much time, but lowers can be left on so you don't have to worry about jacking with your alignment

How did you press the balls? Just use a C clamp or something? Or rent a puller from Vatozone?

Kind of a relief to know you can do the re-build while the arms are still on the truck, had a bitch of a time getting the stock uppers off and the new ones on

got a kit from harbor freight as well as the TC uniball cups

combination of impact gun and ratchet...gun to get them out and ratchet to get them in (hard to get them in straight, so sometimes you gotta go slow)

not a perfect way, but it did the job...

when i first did the UCAs, we took them off and used a block of wood along with a socket to knock the old ones out and press the new ones in

so if you take the arms off, you don't really need anything special...the TC cups help as they're the right size, but if you have a large enough socket, that'll work

well flickr is not cooperating so i'll be stealing from my FB...

from last weekend's trip around Moretown/Waitsfield area...

the day started off fairly clean
    [IMG]

saw some frosty sections as we climbed
    [IMG]

then the sun started to burst through
    [IMG]

    climbing through Bald Eage
    [IMG]

reasoning behind our naming the trail Bald Eagle
    [IMG]

didn't get too many action shots, but it was actually a fun trail with some fun obstacles and a really off-cambered section near the end (maxed out around 35*)..after the steep sections, jordan slipping around getting back to flat ground

then we popped over to Waitsfield gap to see if we could get all the way through...

found a spur that brought us up to a great view point over the Mad River valley
    [IMG]

overlooking Sugarbush and Mad River Glen resorts
    [IMG]

    down was the easy part...

it was getting back up that was the shitty part...the trail was gated off at the bottom, so we had to climb back up the slick trail...this section was the worst muddy section..locked F&R i just sank digging some deep ruts

locked F&R i was able to line all 4 maxtrax on the downhill track and work my way up..

jordan on the other hand did not have the luxury of locking up...

luckily he had 4 treds to add to my 4 maxtrax
    [IMG]

so slowly but surely we worked him up the deep section then again a little ways up...

first hand review on the maxtrax vs treds.....spend the money and get maxtrax!

the treds did the job, but everytime he went over them, i heard them cracking more and more...plus the maxtrax seem to lay down better on uneven terrain...
