Holy crap that is brutal, I don't know how they could get away with that top one.

I was thinking of doing the POR15 kit off of Amazon, comes with everything you need including metal prep and a gallon of paint. Seems like a straight forward application and hard to mess up to me

some of the guys in the NJ/PA area use POR15 on their rigs...seems like a solid option..good base to use on skids probably too

Por-15 is all about prep. If you don't prep right it will flake off. Best that it held up for me is on parts that I had and blasted. Stuck to that really well

Tricky as in damned near impossible. My buddies experience mirrored what wrmathis speaks of. The prep work and ability to get surfaces very very clean was paramount to the POR15s success.

X3 on POR. Worse than rattle can without perfect prep work.

My 1st dealing with POR was this weekend. I used the etch primer and the weld thru primer. Of course I scratched the metal up good prior but it laid down nicely and dried fast.

Yeah I'm sure it's all about the prep just like all paint... I am thinking if I do a POR treatment I will try to remove the bed

I love my new truck but miss my Tacoma
I'm in New England and all that I do is scrub surface rust with one of mini stainless brushes like these then spray the rusted areas with rust converter and last I coat the whole thing with some flat black Rustoleum spray paint. I do this every other year and it don't look bad at all. It's usually just a little bit on the surface and on the welds.

Por15 lays awesome with sand blasting since it makes the metal rough and clean. It has held up decent to my front bumper since I had to have it blasted to get the shitty powder coat off, but my rear bumper was just "prepped" and most has flaked off
