well with the truck down for another week, i took advantage of the nice weather to finish up some projects on it while its sitting around.

been feeling like the OEM alternator has been having troubles keeping up with my loads, so i previously swapped my power and ground cables to and from the two batteries...finally got around to finishing up the upgrade with a 250A HO alternator and new cables alt-battery and battery-fuse box.

another project i had laying around was a URD 2.85" stealth pulley. been putting it off for a while to see how the OEM performed. well the alternator job finally kicked my butt into action on that job since the SC belt had to come off anyway.

while the SC belt and tensioner was off, i also swapped my SC belt as it was showing signs of wear.

the hardest part of the pulley install was getting the OEM off. lots of torque to break it loose. glad the puller held up...heard bad stories on cheap ones breaking so i grabbed a 5 ton craftsman from sears for the job.
    IMG_2885.jpg

the install had me worried. used some motor oil on the shaft, greased up the install tool, and heated up the pulley with boiling water. the new pulley actually went on without a hitch.
    IMG_2886.jpg

    flush.
    IMG_2887.jpg

to make the jobs easier, i did remove the fan and shroud. also to access the alternator lower bolt and to change the SC belt, the tensioner had to come off
    IMG_2889.jpg

    IMG_2888.jpg

    cracked belt
    IMG_2890.jpg

with that job done it was onto the alternator. worst part was rewiring for the alt-battery and battery-fuse box. the alternator went on easy after the belts were off and SC tensioner out of the way.
    IMG_2891.jpg

    then reinstall belts and tensioner.
    IMG_2892.jpg

finished the wiring and buttoned things back up.
    IMG_2893.jpg

no real feedback to report except the truck didn't burn down and the engine didn't blow up when i ran it for a few minutes :D

now i just need my diff

that's a lost cause at this point. maybe one day i'll see if i can put a dent in the mud. but years of mud and dirt has stained everything in there.

Long term opinion on your snorkel prefilter? Any issues with it or the adapters you used to mount it? Would you buy it again, or go with another brand/model?

i havent used it that much lately. i'll throw it on for the winter most likely...so for the limited use of the filter and performance it has, its a good choice.

i'll most likely get the same brand for the FJ in the spring.

Got an Airflow in the mail, don't feel like waiting on the group buy catastrophe to play out and I don't trust the makeshift liner I made over long distances in the desert on my next couple of trips.

Yeah I looked at the specs on the prefilter and it doesn't look like changed their model line up, should still be good.

to many to list, check the build thread
BOB that engine bay is ridiculous with dirt!!! Gramps got me on the train of spraying it out every once in a while at the car wash. I let the water come out of the high pressure washer without pulling the handle and spray certain areas off with no problems
