then i wouldn't be able to transfer over my suspension and axle... already seen a 1st gen tundra v8 swap into a 2nd gen just fine.

I would expect the 2006 S/C kit to transfer over to the 2015 pretty well. There may be some slight differences in the fit kit (they certainly moved a lot of things around in the engine bay over the years).

The 91, and using a lot of it, is the S/C drawback for me. I guess there's a little more maintenance and plugs are more expensive, but I haven't had any reliability issues. I don't rev it out very often at all though... I just appreciate the extra power around 2500rpm so I don't have to drop a gear or two on the highway for small inclines. I also only have half the miles on my truck that you have. What sort of reliability problems are you having?

The 1st gen 4.7L tundra engine is quite solid, but doesn't make much more power than the 4.0 V6. The 4.0 with S/C beats the 4.7 and is much easier than doing an engine swap. Depending on which version of the 4.7 you get it's only 240-282hp.

better mpg with the v8 vs v6 s/c. same power, but i believe v8 will have more torque.

when you add more power to a motor, it will cause more stress on it. a stock motor will be more realiable than a boosted one.

I’d say torque is a wash but the v8 is just smoother and it’s so low in the rpm range. My tacoma with supercharger has more get up and go than my GX but the smoothness of the GX is nicer to drive. My mpgs are slightly better in the gx but able to put in regular makes the diff. Honestly I think I’d rather have the v8 in the taco over the s/c.

My dad drives a 1st gen Tundra (that he's had for freakin' ever) and it's a great truck... but in true Toyota fashion they are quite thirsty. The 4wd 1st gen Tundra models with the 4.7 were rated at 15mpg combined and real world was quite a bit worse than that. No ratings for the S/C'd 4.0 v6 but my average for the last few years is 13mpg which includes some towing, lower gears, extra weight, etc. I'm not sure if you'd end up really saving anything with the v8, except being able to put 87 in it.

My dad's 2006 Tundra window sticker says 271hp/313ft-lbs. My 2012 Taco as it came from the factory said 236hp/266ft-lbs. With S/C Toyota says the taco should be 305hp/335ft-lbs. Although, after driving them both, the v8 feels like it has more of its torque available at lower rpm.

Can't argue with more power causing more wear - it just seems like the engine in these trucks is not the weak link for reliability. Of course, that's just my experience.

I don't think you could go wrong between the 4.7, 4.0 N/A, and 4.0 S/C... all seem like great options, but they're all thirsty and have low power output compared to more modern offerings in light trucks.

so far biggest weak link has been the rear diff... solved that...

    and the frame rot...

i have an odd issue popping up with my fuel trims running high when hot, but my AFR stays ideal. so far hasn't caused any big issues, but definitely an issue that concerns me long-term.

I like your truck a lot. You have a whole bunch of really nice, expensive mods like the rear axle, crawl box, camper, etc. I can definitely see why you'd want to swap them over to a '15. All that stuff on a low mileage truck and you'd have a kick ass rig for a long time to come. "V2" sounds pretty sweet, even if you leave out some of the stuff that adds complexity.

Another last minute addition before this week's adventure... renogy knockoff battery monitor. Wanted a way to track my battery level and usage in the camper...

Was that wood siding you put up expensive? I'm looking for something like that for my trailer but I don't want to break the bank!

Have you put Betty on a scale since changing to the camper? I'd guess it's pretty close to what the tent and bedrack weighed before, but still curious how it turned out after the extra odds and ends.
