Looking from the tailgate at the box, at the level of the bed rails from the tailgate to the box, from the side looking at bed (I want to know how much lower the box is from the bed rails). Did you flush mount it on the back wall? How you secured it

lowered my skewp about in inch today...about as low as i can go without getting too crazy..

    later today...

filled the gap with 2 layers of silcone coverage..a clear layer of marine grade weathersealer and a layer of black gasket maker to fill the gap between the snorkel and the body panel..

finally have a wheel bearing go out on me....coming back from the eye dr today my truck was making deathly metal on metal grinding that made me cringe...

turns out my wheel bearings were so bad that my rotor was shifting enough to contact my calipers, creating nice gouges in my rotors...damn wheel feels like it wants to fall off!!

but this may also be the source of my brake issues as well..we're thinking that the rotors running out of line has been pushing the pads back creating a gap between the rotors and the pads, so when i hit the brakes, there is a give before contacting the rotors...

well, going in to jace's shop wednesday to get the bearing swapped out..hopefully the hub is fine. also getting the rotor turned while i'm there too..

    fun fun

but while i had the wheels off, i cleaned and painted all 4 wheels...put a satin black rustoleum on, so hopefully they won't be too shiny..forgot to take pics, but they are shiny right now with the fresh paint..

next project this week on the truck besides the maintenance will be to throw some paint on the skids and sliders, and work on my reverse lights so i can finally mark that off the list!

well truck is back in action...bearing and rotor were the only things damaged...bearings damn near ate themselves..

wheel bearing failure was also the root of the brake issue that i had...nice to have brakes working every time i hit the pedal again

I rotated my tires the other day and now I have some vibrations in the steering wheel when braking, so i think the wheel is just out of balance, but it had me wondering about wheel bearings. How many miles do you have on your truck? Did you replace the hubs or did you press out the bearings and put in new ones?

I'd imagine if you just buy the hubs pre assembled it would be a pretty easy job after you get the wheel and rotor off

i'm at about 110-115k actual miles on the truck and this was the first wheel bearing to go..driver side is still good to go

hub was fine. the hub i hear is quite expensive, so pressing out the in the new bearings are the cheaper way to go. replaced everything with Toyota parts too, did not go aftermarket

Freaking awesome pic. How much did the bearings set you back by the way?

So Bob how do the truck do with the snorkel? From the sounds of it you got some highway miles on it now.

it's nice man...my mpgs are back up and definitely got some hp's back that i lost after getting rid of my CAI.

temps usually run 2-5* over outside temps usually don't get above 10* over when in traffic.

mpgs are back up near 18mpg again

liking the new setup with the snorkel, shorty headers and working brakes :D

definitely looks much better after i cut it down a bit since you last saw it..

curious to see how it holds up during the winter

I don't know. if the plastic is molded differently then Safari it might get brittle in the winter and shatter. :p

Although in trees we should start warning Bob over the CB "Periscope down!" :D
