^^^ looks like the BAMF shock relocation has a more slim profile to clear your tars. Do you tow very often?

bamf relocation i read has issues with anything more than 285 width tire unless you run <4.5" BS

    i'm at a 4.5" BS with a 305 tire...

and i'm not about to go buy new wheels haha

    so about a 1/2" difference...

This may be my lack of knowlege showing here... but, is there any reason for running the shock body on top rather than the shock body on bottom like the stock orientation? I know if you have a resi, you kinda have too in order to mount the resi, but if you don't have a resi do you need to?

If the shock body is on bottom, would that provide the necessary space to accomodate the extra width of the tire?

    Just thinking out loud here...

    if it's a non-resi shock, that's a good point..

Main reason to keep shocks outboard when relocating is twofold:

    - No need to adjust valving.
    - Minimzed body roll at speed.

If you're mainly concerned about wheeling, go ahead and go inboard. Just remember to valve stiffer and take it easy through the turns.

Good info there. Hoops or relocation brackets seem to have an edge now.

    exactly

those are big reasons why I'd like to stay outside the rails but it seems with these mount relocations out there put the shocks too close to the tire. and with 305 and 4.5" BS it sounds like I'd have issues.

I can keep the shocks I have and factory mounts for times when I'm towing or long road trips where I won't be wheeling . it would definitely be a pain but i'd get the best of both worlds.

looks like highest valving I can get with the bilsteins I'm looking at is 255/78. looking at the 6100 10" to get the heims and not rubber bushings.

    lot of planning left still...

Yeah, you'd need spacers. 1.25" probably. That's what I'm using with my 285s, but have a lot of clearance at stuff so I probably could've gotten away with 1" or .75".

dog found a rock to climb and see how the clearance was with the tars..

    back stuffs great
    [IMG]

front was close, but didn't touch
    [IMG]

    clearance on flat ground
    [IMG]

    not rubbing the frame either
    [IMG]

so i cleared out a bit more room....took a hammer to the fender after making some cuts and got rid of the lower screw (not the bottom bottom, but first one up), then tried to smooth the cut out a bit

    should be good now
