Hmm... the Dakar's might not settle sinve they are built with lift and load in mind. You might just have to get that RTT early. :D

    ground to hub-centered fender
    42 1/4" driver
    42 1/2" passenger

after we were done, and started to clean the garage, i then realized... I FORGOT TO MEASURE BEFORE!!!!!

so unfortunately i do not have a comparison...

i took a measurement at some point with my duratracs, so i'll have to find that and see where it compares..

i went with the Bilstein B110s. they measure 16.34x27.28. when i had the truck on the stands and was at full droop, they were able to still reach my lower mounts. so i should be good.

measured with the shocks disconnected a while back when looking at the foxes and saw with the dakars and factory shackle location i was at approx 18x26, http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-builds/157700-nyco-build-thread-20.html#post4544615

so roughly gained an inch or so of droop with the flip going off of that.

the foxes that i was running before hand measured, 15.19x25.19.

for reference, this was from Marco when i got these shocks..

"Based on the info you gave us, I honestly believe you'll be fine with the 10" Travel Fox stem top. I took one out of the box and took some actual measurements for you. I sent you some pictures of the measurements.

0051: I measured without the lower bushing, from the top of the can, to the center of lower eye.
0052: Shows 25.25" to the center of the lower eye, without the upper bushing.
0053: I installed the washer/bushing on the stem(sorry, no pic), and measured again. I got 26.25" to the center eye. You have to account for the bushing compressing a bit when tightened, so it will probably end up right at 26".

The real danger of a shock topping out and causing damage, would be if you caught air at speed, or were using ALL the droop travel through a whoop section or something. At speed, topping out the shock could damage the shock, the mount, or both."

so, these shocks should be a good fit. craig and eric are both running these shocks as well and they have recommended them

Damn 34" tires you. I measure at 40"s ground to fender hub-centered. With your wheels I should measure 42"s as well. :D

yea, luckily eric has a garage stocked full of goodies :D definitely helped on the sides where there's not much room to work with.

damn rivets were definitely the biggest pain.

i would have liked better angles on the shackles and not as much of a lift. would have been nice having shackles that weren't manufactured to fit 2.75" exactly. apparently weren't made for dakars which are slightly wider at the bushings, so now i have to bend the shackles to make them fit.

i really need to get out wheeling so i can feel better about the bullshit hoping everything performs great.

Yea those are crazy Rich/ AKA secret squirrel had the same issue until he swapped for a diff shackle. I will find out which ones he used. Mine on the other hand are slightly diff then what I see everybody is running custom made plates with zerk bolts made to fit my springs.

Not the best pic but gives you an idea.

Rich is running what he called "a banana FJ Shackle" IIR.

You have a similar setup to the one Kevin did for JAndrews. PSU Taco85 also has a like setup that Drew from TOR fabbed up.

These suckers are still a grand experiment in my opinion - but they do get results. :D

Bob couldn't you just get ploy bushings for the Dakars rather then bend the shackles?

now that's an angle i'd like to have!

guess now that i have the hangers off, if a better flip kit comes across my path, i'll be able to swap them out easily :D

if rich's build specs are up to date on TOR, then he's got the 1" XJ shackles...i've seen in a few threads those being an option

    which would be these,

    or like these
    [IMG]

then question would be, is there a benefit to running the shackles this way?

    http://www.daystarsuspensionparts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=KJ60014

at $53, that's not a bad deal for greaseable shackles

    or these

    http://www.4x4groupbuy.com/store/-p-70441.html?gclid=CIuIp5b-lbcCFW-CQgodlEIARg

    for $70 that come finished

would be nice if they would include dimensions of products they sell though

Note: our factory shackle eye to eye is ~3.5"

looking at another recent run ATO did on the mount, it looks like they moved the mounting point back on the dakar set which they really shouldn't have

Meh I miss the days when I would just ride down to ATO and stay the w/e and help with what I wanted for the truck. It made it soooo easy when I could dictate the specs and design....:(

problem is, i have 5-6yr old springs and i don't think anything is left to settle haha

only if the bushings shift at all, but they were torqued at ride height.

talking with adam on the matter and seeing if this is going to be a problem and if so, what can be done to fix it.
