started making odd noises coming out of the axle. put it up on stands and ran it in 4th while we listened to with a stethoscope and confirmed it was something in the axle.

it wasn't completely busted, it drove fine, but had the noise.

the noise went with the speed of the truck...faster i was going faster the noise was, as i slowed down, so did the noise.

so jace took it into the shop today for more evaluation, and found the tooth on the magnet after draining the fluid.

so he's taking the locker motor out to see if he can get a better look at the gears in there, but i'll be getting a new 3rd from ECGS soon :(

thought we'd save $$ on the gear swap and only had the clamshell assembled which carries their warranty. the gears only have a manufacturers warranty which is only a year and would not cover this.

ecgs is not working with me for pricing, so i'll be looking into carl's differentials who will be doing the work for me.

No HC huh? Are we tabling the event to a bit later in the season maybe?

So what is the cost difference between gear vendors?

we'll have to figure out HC....i WANT TO GO!

i might be able to get the 3rd by early next week, then maybe have jace install it saturday, but that would mean fresh gears on HC and that's not really the best way to break in gears :D

    or is it

At least you can ride the bike while the truck is down. I wish I had a second vehicle so I can be a bit harder on the truck.

I see. I have no idea what gears I have. I don't recall it specifying on their website.

Just checked again and it does say Nitro gears at the top but I don't recall it saying that before when I did it about a year ago now.
