O2 sensor issue

Having issues finding the right O2 sensor for my 98 Tacoma Prerunner ex can w/ a 3.4L. The parts house wants to give me this sensor that has a ring next to mounting plate and the ring won't fit in the hole in my exhaust pipe. Does anyone know the correct part number?

 

which sensor? downstream or upstream?
california emissions or no?
automatic or manual trans?

Been to sensor. Can't find right part #. It says down stream when I search for up stream. Also says Manuel transmission only 4wheel drive.
Mine is automatic 2 wheel drive.

Upstream has short pigtail and the ring on all I've seen keeps it from fitting.
Downstream has a long pigtail.

Need both up and down stream.

All the flange type o2 sensors have it. If it can't fit into the hole, something is wrong with the o2 flange bung (mounting point on the exhaust pipe). Rust buildup maybe?? Try to poke your finger or a small wire brush in there to clean any buildup or residue

The sensor element itself is the same for every part number listed, except it's the wire lenght that will be different. Luckily for you, 1998 trucks have regular o2 sensors both upstream and downstream
(later models have an air/fuel ratio sensor upstream)

From what I remember when I did mine (extra cab, like you), you will need the one that's 30ish inches long for downstream (234-4159) and the one that's about 10-11 inches long for the upstream(

234-4162). Still, do you have auto or manual trans??

Or you could still get two

$57 234-4206 Oxygen Sensor

234-4206, which is the sensor without the connector and you just cut and splice them to the old wiring (notice how it says universal in the description...) Did it for someone and it works no problem

 

Are they trying to give you an air fuel ratio sensor or an oxygen sensor? Air fuel ratio sensor is for Ca. vehicles while O2 sensor is for non Ca vehicles. Do you need a front or a rear sensor?
Got a vin, I can get you the correct denso part#.

 

First of all, do not cut your O2 sensor wires, especially on a brand new one...
Second, don’t buy a universal one. It’s not worth the headache.

Third, why are you not using rockauto.com to find the proper O2 sensor????????

 

Clean up the holes so the sensors fit!!
