O2 sensor removal. Wtf...

Got the rasta cel and wanna swap O2 sensors. 2 different styles of tools, socket and crowsfoot, and they both slip in the sensor nut. Soaked for a couple days with pb blaster, tried hot and cold. Torch on the cold bung..it ain't moving.

Will the connector fit through a box wrench?
22 mm I believe. And of course, I dont have one. Yet. Lol

 

heat the bung and take a 4lbs sledge to the wrench

 

Run over to your local parts store and get an 02 sensor wrench. It'll go on a 3/8 ratchet handle.

Heating it up wouldn't hurt, either.

O2 sensor wrench is your friend. The shorter style works better in tight spaces.

 

Yup, O2 sensor wrench makes it much easier. I have one like this:



Based on where that image came from, it appears Harbor Freight has them.

 

Both styles slipped on the sensor. I ended up using a 22 mm box wrench and a Chevy tool,(hammer). Lol

Unfortunately, torque still showed bank one all over the place. Check the wiring next...

 

if you are replacing the sensor than just cut the connector off and use a regular wrench. The new sensor will have a new connector on it.

 

What year is the truck? Any coolant loss?

 

To be clear, which side did you go to as "bank 1"?

 

Knipex parallel pliers work amazing for this scenario.

 

I swapped the sensors before I spent the money. Didn't have to cut the connector to slip the box wrench on.

It's an 06 and I was losing coolant before i had the motor swapped out.

Passenger side, the side with the most forward cylinder.
I don't think the knipex pliers would work as well as the box wrench and hammer.

 

Use mine regularly. However, my exhaust components get swapped around more than anyone here, so fornthat reason mine aren't seized in, like yours seems to be.

Why are the leads on the 2 sensors different lengths? That's pretty deep gouge Toyota's giving us here with 2 different parts IMO.

 

Not exactly sure what you mean. The sensor infront of the cats are factory WRAF sensors. After the cats, those are O2 sensors. That would be two different parts, but not sure if that fits what your talking about?

 

I'm referring to the O2 sensors behind the cats. Drivers side sensor has longer leads than the passenger side

 

Oh ok. Just the way the bungs are clocked, and harness is situated.

 

That could be. I actually didn't put them side by side. Laying on broken acorn shells is not the most comfy and I just wanted them swapped.
