    Hello all,

I have a relatively new to me 2004 3.4 litre with a few problems. Firstly, I have a code for the upstream o2 sensor being out...this would be the result of people stealing the cat and cutting out the section with the sensor. However, I still get about 20 mpg on the highway and the truck runs well so I haven't worried about it so far. Is it alright to not have the front sensor?

Second problem; the cruise control switch does not work. While the little green light is on the switch nothing appears on the dash. I have replaced the fuses and am not sure what to do. This may be related to the blinkers running fast. All blinkers run fast and no, none of the bulbs are out. Hazards run at a normal pace. I'm guessing this is an issue with the ground however I don't know where the blinkers ground too. Where should I start with this? Does the blinkers coupled with the cruise problem sound like a clock spring issue? The horn works fine.

Finally, the fuel gauge does not work at all. The needle is stuck in the complete bottom position. I know this could potentially be a sending unit issue. Is there any way that I could test the resistance of the sending unit without having to drop the tank?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!

    Here in TX
Those CatBandits cleaned my area out
    Aholes moved elsewhere
    I personally paid out 250 claims (only class A or C RV’s). @$5k average a pop

    so
They cut out your downstream(rear) O2 not your front O2
Front O2 mainly controls idle(among other signals) chances are your taco would “kinda run/drive” w/out front O2

Yeah u can run w/out rear…..until inspection time comes

    Guessing you have LED bulbs
    Hazards work normally
But u get hyper flash unless you install led resistors everywhere you have a led
LED’s create all kinds of weirdness
Would go back to conventional bulbs and see if CC works

fuel gauge pegs very possible ground wire issue
    As far as dropping tank….
    Search the same
Many members here swear by removing bed…..much easier/faster

This is all helpful, thanks for the reply. As for the o2 sensor I am fairly certain that it is the bank one senor one in front of where the cat used to be that is cut out. Right on the pipe bend.

??? R/R CAT section and wiring w/connector you can buy new connector and pins to pop in - people build harnesses. A New cat has sensor mount, not sure what you fashioned as a scab for missing cat pipe section.

X2 on the LED bulbs Installed. Go back to filament type bulbs

Fuel hanger float arm could be seized from sitting empty
