So I'm on the hook for a camping bachelor party this weekend up Peacock Flats. Never been before, shit I don't even know how to get there! Any help/advice/recommendations? We're just going to the campground area from what I've been told. I'll be taking a stock '12 DCSB 4x4.

Fill this form out, and submit to Division of Forestry and Wildlife. You'll probably need to hand in the application since it's within 10 working days to obtain the permit.

He told me he already has the permits with two parking spots for us. I'm guessing he put us all on there b/c he asked for our information.

I'm looking more for offroad advice I guess. I'm gonna be heading up solo and don't know the trail at all... is it rough?

Don't recommend going alone. Take recovery gear. There are several spots where there is no cell phone reception. Two-way radios or better yet, CB or HAM radios are probably better.

Also, no water source at the camp site, so plan accordingly.

And the trails that'll get you to the campsite will leave "pin stripes" on the side of your truck. Just be prepared for that.

Oh, and remove your antenna...I'll probably get ripped off or bent if you leave it on.

The trails are pretty straight forward. Just got to watch out for other trucks and jeeps going the opposite direction.

It's been pretty dry lately, so it'll be dusty. Shouldn't have to worry about too much mud (if at all any) on the main trails.

Awesome thanks bro!!! I'm aware of the water issue, gonna try to pick up containers today. I'll have all my recovery gear and a friend in the truck with me. I have straps, recovery mats, ViAir compressor, have the basics covered at least. Just missing a winch to be completely comfortable on my own.

It's my girls truck... hope she doesn't mind some of those pin stripes :( :angrygirl:

I don't think my truck has gotten scratched from the main road that you will be on. I think some cars might be able to make it up on the main road. Prerunners make it up easy on a dry day.

You have to go from the west side up through the satellite tracking station gate.

Yeah, if it's dry (and it is right now) you can make it up the main road in 2wd. I've seen subarus at the campsite. One time even had a VW dune buggy up there

the only thing you gotta worry about is getting lost. Just stay on the widest most worn in trail and follow the signs, and you'll get there. Take a picture of the map at the beginning too.

We'll be heading up probably Friday mid-day. Didn't know we had to go west side so I had to change my plans a bit. Either way come find me for a beer once you're there!

It's about an hour drive to reach the camp site. Airing down will help with the bumpy ass road.

So with what you said, would you suggest having a pair of maxtrax? I'm planning on going up there for my birthday in late October. Never been before, so I'm trying to figure out if I need to buy them or not.

Like Dana said above, Prerunners make it up on dry days.

And I would say to invest in a winch more than Maxtrax.

I agree, if a winch were an option. Just bought a front bumper, full skids, and sliders. Only thing I have room for in my budget at the moment is either maxtrax or holding off for a while.
