Newb question: Are Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs the same as Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar? If not, what are the differences?

    Thanks, Kaleo.

So, Duratracs are all terrains and MT/R's are mud terrains.

If you go look at Goodyear's website, you can compare the two different tires in detail.

Oddly enough, I did check out the Goodyear website and couldn't get a comparison of the tires (on my phone last night or this morning). But was able to look at each of them on a computer just now. Thanks fellas!

any thoughts on the Fierce Attitude M/T's?

heard they were ok, but they're low(er)-end MT's. a guy in my building has them on his Tundra, and I get to look at them everyday. the one thing I hate the most about those tires is that barbwire design on the sidewall :goingcrazy:

in my opinion, if you wanna get MT's, you might as well use the hookup and get MTR's. I got quoted $219/tire for 265/75 MTR's, which is ridiculous. I couldn't do it cause there's too much logistics getting them from Waipahu, then getting them to me in Kona. I like Duratracs, but not for Big Island. sidewalls are sketchy and the last thing I need is a flat 12 miles into a lava field :bananadead:

No, they have no Kevlar construction, weak sidewalls, softer rubber that wears quickly in hot environments and cuts really easily. They are a good winter and snow tire, with a lot of siping. They are better in the rain and are lighter that MTRs, though.
Duratrac isn't a tough all terrain like a KO2 BFG either. Its more of like a passenger tire with more aggressive tread and decorations on the sidewalls. They are more than adequate for most peoples needs, though.

Are you recommending the BFG KO2's over the GY DuraTracs?

No, they're just tougher, with a stronger sidewall. Duratracs aren't a bad tire, they just aren't a true MT. I'm on my 3rd set of duratracs, (3 different vehicles and tire sizes).
BFG are probably more expensive and heavier. I don't like Toyo AT2, on my second set on my work truck. Its like a street tire with deep tread and it squirms like crazy when new.
All depends on what you need, or what tire you think looks the coolest.

Your last sentence summed it up for me and my choice with the Duratracs. PreRunner. Kaena point is the most off road I'll go. Hell, I don't even go often. Drives fine on the wet roads, looks good, and was cheaper than the ko2 with TW hookup!

sometimes I feel like duratracs are the O'Douls of the AT/MT tire world. get that MT look without the MT performance :stirthepot: lol, before we start hating, just know I have duratracs on right now

I wouldn't go as far to say it's O'Douls. Maybe Coors Light.

DuraTracs are considered All-Terrain, All-Season tire. So, I'll be recommending my buddy to get them. He just bought a 2005 AC Prerunner, so no crazy off roading. Maybe just KP runs. His step up will look almost like @k3v11n, but as an access cab. :D I think he's buying the same exact wheels today from Craigslist.

 Too funny. I have Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ P3's...all-terrain. Didn't go with the MTZ's because I'm also only a Prerunner. :( But I'm completely satisfied with the ATZ P3's. :bananadance:
