So I turned the GPS off yesterday and while exploring the island the wife and i found the entrance I think. Its was by the beach and there was a satellite city hall kaena point building. Then you could keep driving straight until the pavement ends and it turns into a pretty bumpy dirt road. Is that the right placeish? I wanted to go down the dirt road but there were a lot of people hiking it and wasn't sure if I was supposed to stop at the office first so we just left.

 

No, you are at the wrong end of the island by the satelite tracking station, not city hall. The entrance is on the north shore side of the island, you were at the west side.
The statelite tracking station military entrance is the gate for Peacock Flats which you need a different permit to get in.

 

I really should start looking at this shit on a map or we need more TW group runs. But ok thanks for the info man. I would have went to the wrong spot for sure if we did a real meet up.

 

You can drive down that road pretty far, but you will eventually have to turn around. The road used to go all the way around. But some of it got washed away and the bird sanctuary is in the way now too.

Wife and I are looking to go up on Sunday. Maybe be up there around 2? We are finally seeing Infinity War in the morning, so whenever we get up there after that. If anyone wants to meet up in the afternoon and chill out.

Good to know! We might have a couple passengers that come with us too. I'd love if someone with some experience comes out to help teach my wife how to read a trail and crawl it. I'm decent at it but I don't have enough of the experience and knowhow to teach anyone.
