I drove out there probably 2008-2009 to fish. Only could go so far, almost to the end. A portion of the trail collapsed a good ...30-40 ft. It’s known as the wash out. If you look on google maps you’ll see it.

Still can. But I remember at one point, long time ago fishermen who frequent the area were posting on social media that there was a gate that was put up. I didn’t see one when I went there recently but I only went as far as moi hole. Not sure if it’s further in or taken down. :notsure:

Always people that go whenever as long as you have the permit and DLNR doesn’t shut it down due to poor weather. Bunch of people should be there right now like @DJSPEC

I’m down to go. Just waiting for them to open the gate

    *edit*

Just checked the site. They have opened it back up. So I’m down to make a run Sunday and if it’s to last min then next weekend if that’s more of a notice for people.

Has anyone tried to access the gate yet? As of June 5, 2020, the DLNR site says "Access gates will be CLOSED." However, the same update also says, "VEHICLE ACCESS BY PERMIT FOR THE MOKULEIA SECTION HAS REOPENED AS OF JUNE 5, 2020, subject to COVID RESTRICTIONS."

I did access the site and it is giving the gate combo. So can we go? Would hate to drive all the way there for nothing.

Kaena wraps around to Waianae side. Gate and day facilities have been shut on that side. Don’t really understand why.

looks like they abandoned the water pipe project for now on Mokuleia side. Cut the funding?
