    Funny story..

Brought the trans out drive with me instead of the rear bulk.. Rear bulk is larger! Still waiting on my bearings to be sure, but looks like I have 1/8" of clearance. Should be enough since it doesn't wobble any because of the dual bearings, right?

Yup, don't go 8th scale. All that awesomeness comes at a price. I think I passed the $1200 mark now :p

    Hmm.. Sounds about right

Don't worry, I'm up too. Just finished bolting up my slider ates so I can weld some tomorrow. Now I'm working on that emaxx I bought so I can get it running perfect before I sell it. And I'm eating BBQ chips.. And watching criminal minds lol

Broke the very first part on my 2wd in 8 years today! My friend wanted to go to the park and race, so I run what I brung..

    image-2172_79286f7925f8987708074d8ffd145b5e86617e3f.jpg

After the racing was over, he was driving my truck on the black top and jumping speed bumps. He let off the throttle in the air (I hadn't explained how to jump) and it nose dived.. Truck still drives fine, but the plastic brace is toast. Guess I gotta order the orange aluminum one now :D

And my bearings came in today! I ordered the XL kit since it comes with little bearings for the steering linkage. Only thing is apparently the XL diffs use two different bearings for each side. So I had to order two more individual bearings :( Gonna be a while till those come in..

Got my shock oil in the mail! Took a few hours to get all the air out of the shocks because of the giant volume! After filling the front with 25et and the rear with 30wt, I really didn't like the feel.. So I drained them and swapped over the valves; fronts 1 size smaller, and the rears 3 sizes smaller. Rear might be a little too stiff now, and the front is still a little soft. So if I don't like the next race, then I'll go down 1 more in the front, and bring the rear up 1 to match the front, just with different weight oils.

Also put the diff fluid in the front, not as locked as I wanted, nor as much as people on the Savage forums made it sound. But it should work! Now I'm just waiting on the last 2 bearings. Have the rest of the truck ready to go!

    Someone, buy this!

Most fun RC I've had. Handling and power, great fun on pavement or dirt and especially on the track! Not mine, just a good deal that I found. The only go fast rc that I kept along with my crawlers.

Basically its the truggy chassis with the buggy suspension. Awesome power on 4s.

O.k. A funny but sad story..

Picked up a used (newer model) Summit today. Had a small cut on one tire which I bought glue to try and fix, although in the back of my mind, I was going to buy new prolines anyway.. Take it to the park to play with the wife and kids.. Funny how at first I asked my son if he wanted to play with "his truck" (pede) and while he and my wife were busy, I busted out the monster..

Well, some neighbors dogs came to the park, and my son (playing with the Summit) couldn't out run or out maneuver the dogs.. End of story (after a Boxer) trashing was tears in 2 (more) tires and a broken (hollow-end) half shaft.

Tires were already slight of a given, and I can get half shafts on Amazon for $10/pair, but I have to learn how to install.. The part numbers are 5655/5656. As you can see, I think I can just pull that pin out and the top half-shaft will slide off the ball joint.. Correct or wrong.. Hope to bring it out on Sunday..

I think you're right about the pin. Although it is 2 pins and you have to pull 1 out before the other. I would pull off either the UCA or LCA so you can easily get it out. And it is t that hard to pull the axle cup out if you take the wheel and hex hub off.

Which one did you buy? was it off CL? I missed one, ad was for a summit with mamba monster for only $300. I responded but the guy didn't call me back.. Have to remove the pin to release from the diff, then the set screw to remove the pin holding the shaft to the cv.

Btw, that story isn't that funny.. I'd make the neighbor pay for the parts. If people can't control their animals they don't belong off leash.

No.. wasn't the Mamba Monster one.. I emailed that guy, but no response as well... By the looks of what he was including, it almost didn't seem real.. There is another guy selling a "yet to be run" modified brushless Summit, but supposedly spent over $1000 and only wants $500.. that ad seems kids weird.. No. I got a line on a friend of Log Cabins which my nephew bought his Pede off of.. Other than the slash on the tire, was good to go.. Guess that one slash is nothing now.. learning experience on RCs and chasing dogs.. (Phil/Brandon take note just in case).

I got the half shaft off.. Yes, it is a set screw first then just slide out the pin. Took the other end off as well, so when I get the new half-shafts, just install, slide it in, and reinstall the hub portion to the arms.. (I know my terminology is off)..

Weird part is that the front left and rear right is a different part from the front right and the rear left.. Go figure.. I'm just gonna buy a set of both, and have extras.. that part of the drive shaft seems like the weak link..

My wife already hates this site.. lol.
Wish I met you and your friend Kaleo before I got my Pede. The summit is bad ass although the pede is FAST.
Friend was super sorry and offered to pay.. it was kinda funny to watch the dogs chase.. I outran them with the pede, but couldn't with the summit. Summit should be up and running soon..

I know this is a long shot for TW - RC but I'll throw it up here a little cheaper than CL.

Selling my almost brand new Onyx 235 AC/DC charger.. has honestly about 10 packs charged through it.. just need the dual 245 or another dual battery charger now that i picked up the Summit (and no I don't want a monster 4 port charger like Miles..lol).

    Bought at Hobbitat for $100+tax.

    CL - $85
    TW - $80

Amazon has it listed for $93.

Right now it's 5 (3 for the Pede and 2 for the Summit). If I pick up more batteries for the Summit then I will be 2-4 more.. lol.. Guess with that I don't need to charge while we are out (other than camping). Charge um up, and run them dry.. After that, day is over.

75% success with the Summit. Found some half-shafts on island (TRCC) and changed out all 4 while I was at it.. Not bad once you kinda know what you are doing.. Got some tire patches and some glue for the tires. Patched up the rips and glued the areas (on the pede and the summit) where the tire started coming off the rim. New tires for both are in the mail, and should be here by Friday.

I guess it depends on what you want and possibly how much you want to drive or wait.
-Those little black rubber bladders (for the traxxas shocks) were like $3-$4 at TRCC and $2 at Hobbitat. Amazon is like $3-$4.
-Ordered the half-shafts and proline trenchers on Amazon last night. (convenient and decent price). Called TRCC and they had the half-shafts for basically the same price, and even did a special order (minus 25%) on the trenchers which are sent 2-day and I should get in on Friday. Same price (with the discount) as Amazon, and because I got the order in today, will be here before Amazon would have gotten it here.

Now to charge the batteries and try everything out.
