Watching you guys have too much fun.... needed to grab something for my "son". Barely used slash 4x4 brushless. Gotta get a more lipo batteries and a faster charger. Still have to learn how, but cool I can make the steering less sensitive for my son, as well as turn the power down by 50%. output_zpstijx45gm_e0cd0168601ba9250a4f7c94fd3575786e7b6868.jpg

    Never too late!

Sweet!! Send me a pic of the controler and I'll see if it has dual rate steering. If it does, turn that down and it sling turn as sharp. As for dialing down the speed, that depends on the speed controler. But those tires should do nice in the sand! Wider than the stockers :)

If anybody is interested in the Emaxx I just bought LMK. I'm going to check it out when it comes in and decide if I'm keeping it or not. I got it for a friend and wanted to make sure he could upgrade to a brushless system in the future, but because its the old model it might take a little more work than he would know how to do ATM. Mostly the problem is the plastic trans gears have to be swapped for metal (maybe $12 worth), the drive shafts and axle shafts might need to be upgraded ($30-$50 for all 6), and maybe upgrade the slipper (~$20). The parts would not be expensive, but he has never had an RC before so I don't think he would be willing to take everything apart and do the instal. I'd do it in an instant and it should only take 45 minutes to install everything, but I would really want him to do everything so he gets fully sucked into RC :D

If I think he can handle the upgrades, then I'll keep the truck. But if anyone on here is interested I will sell it for what I paid ($237.50 shipped) and I'll toss in a few stock replacement parts I already bought for it. I never thought I would win the bid because that's pretty cheap for an Emaxx.. But go figure the auction ended at an odd time for mainlanders so I got it  Parts I bought are; a full set (front, rear, and center) of stock Traxxas skidplates, stock Traxxas center braces, stock Traxxas tool kit, and an instruction booklet from a newer version. This truck does have the 2-speed transmission that you can shift from the transmitter.

The truck should be great with a 1/10 brushless system with just adding the steel trans gears. But I know my friend, and he has only ever driven my trucks. So I know he will be wanting a 1/8 brushless system like I have in both of my trucks. And the parts I mentioned would be required to handle the torque of a 1/8 motor.

I do have a bid on a 4x4 Stampede so I may end up keeping that truck and selling this one anyway. If I win that one that is.

This is how my stuff looked..

    image-1412_6a46e8584c836a164ffd824b2c7744fd5de391f6.jpg

Cleaned the bulkheads and diffs. Surprised how much pulverized sand was in the ring and pinion.. Polished up the hinge pins with some mothers and my suspension is sooo much smoother now :)

    image-566_b6a5197c193636b4de05b465bf8b9b6d48b65edd.jpg

Also made my own dual servo steering. Had the extra servo so it was a free mod. But the two matching servo horns I had on hand were for a heli, so they may not last long..

    image-1230_489fa6c3e64af0bb2ea288bd148d90d25e0500bc.jpg

Charger shouldn't draw too much power, I'd just hook it up with the truck off :D

That impact gun I always said $200 if anyone from TW ever wants it w/battery, charger, and bag. I try to use hand tools only, but usually break down and use it on rear suspension because it has so much torque, its just so easy.

I just realized I can't run my LiPo's with the origional evx. Anybody have a pair of 7.2v sticks I could use to test the emaxx? The truck has deans but I can solder TRX connectors if I need to.

Phil, I use a radio shack 12v 25amp power supply. Pretty cheap. You can also convert a computer power supply if you have an old comp laying around.
Nate, I have two 7 cell sticks with deans. Let me know if they will fit.

    :edit:
I guess they don't make it anymore, but find out what's the most amps you can draw with your charger, and buy a supply to suit. Probably 10-15 would be fine.

    Just LMK :)

And like Ivan said, you can always chop up an old computer PSU pretty easy.

Thanks! But the Old school EVX says it can only handle 12 cells, no more no less :(

I think I will run my 2s LiPo's and just make sure I don't run it too long. Seen a lot of people running 4s through the original EVX with an external cutoff. Good thing is my batteries are the uni plug so I can slip some deans on them pretty easy :)

Guess I should have read more before replying, everyone else digested a computer power supply.

Also, some chargers cannot be used with the engine running, it has to be off. So check the manual first.
