On a different note I'm staying at my sisters house in Kailua all week and would love to go off-roading one day while one here. I'll pay for gas and what not.

I'm gonna guess white or black?

 

Heard and see a bunch of bad roof rust in the black or blues, but wouldn't think white.... my 4R is gonna be white... hope it's not a ongoing problem they have...

 

That's why they make warranties

 

I think they dont spray enuff coats of clear on the roof or hood as mush as they do in the more visible parts.

 

I'd definitely think black or white considering the fact that both are single stage paints and have no clear coats making them more susceptible to the elements when not cared for properly. That's the most common misconception I've seen over the years.

 

Guess that is a toyota thing then... as for my honda, we got the white for the very reason that it was a higher painting process.
Please elaborate on the "cared for properly". I've seen a bunch of blues with really bad roof rust, black as well. But I have personally never seen a white with really bad roof rust. Want to make sure I don't run into problems, or decrease the possibility of problems.

Considering there's no clear you'd have to wax it more often than a 2 stage paint job. Of course the pearls and metallics have clear coats so I'm talking straight blacks, reds & whites. You also have to consider science, black inherently retains more heat than white and given our environment your metal will expand and contract at a higher rate than say someone in Alaska. There are other factors like how often it's garaged etc. So basically take care of your car and wax it the minute you stop seeing the water bead off your hood.

Yea.... guess the only hard part is waxing through a front runner.. guess you could take off the rack, but that would get old fast. Doable, just takes a bit more time.
