    my neighbor is a lifeguard at Makaha. they said they were about to warn/close the beach cause there was a couple sharks displaying aggressive behavior at Keeau's... supposedly grinding a dead pig that was floating in the water. definitely not normal for Oahu, but makes me think twice about paddling out to surf before the sun comes up now.

    Dawn Patrol is one of the best times though.....
    Keeau's used to be one of my favorite spots to surf. Before that body boarder bleed to death from a shark bite. On good days it's like a mini Banzai.

    exactly! dawn patrol is the best time. it's the only time I surf, unless I really have jack shit to do at work, then I go at lunch too. I don't think these "attacks" will really stop any surfers. it's just something you think about for the next few surf sessions, then it's back to normal. with this next reinforcing swell coming in late today/tonight, you can be sure I'll be out there tomorrow morning before the sun comes up :cheers:

    I don't think so... probably washed out or floated from somewhere I'd guess. kinda like Hilo... big rain and you have all kinds of nasty shit floating into the water, like at Honoli'i.
