There's no "crush sleeve"... You may be referring to the dust guard that sits between the yoke and the seal?

You know what @Vigo, I have to stand corrected... There is a collapsible spacer that goes between the bearings... Here is a photo of the rear end on our trucks... Its item "41231" in the image

"No crush sleeve" is what I said never have... But upon closer inspection of my higher reading materials, found that there is a one-time-use bearing spacer that is to be discarded and replaced when major repairs to the pumpkin are made... But for just the seal not a big deal as long as the nut is torqued properly

You actually set up the gear mesh first, then install the spacer... Since he won't have the pumpkin apart aside from the nut and flange, no need to mess with all that

Yeah, that thing-a-ma-jig that I didn't know the name for. To do it "properly" pulling the axles and third and dropping the driveshaft and removing the pinion to change the collapsible spacer didn't sound so Ez peazy. I just thought that you didn't mention marking the pinion nut before backing it off, it should be mentioned so that he can get it as close as possible to the torque when the gears were set up. If had solid spacer and shims then wouldn't matter, right?

Got my locker installed with the help of Rick's flip kit, and wrapped the roof. Not anywhere as easy as the tailgate. Probably should have asked for some help with it lol. Two hands were not enough hands :/
